Fans of MTV’s The Challenge adore Paramount+’s The Challenge: All Stars. The new season of the show brought back fan favorites from past seasons, and The Challenge: All Stars Season 2 winners have officially been crowned. So, who won The Challenge: All Stars Season 2? Here’s who took home the prize money, and what they had to say about the “broken” checkpoint production gave them that could’ve cost them everything.
[Spoiler alert: Spoilers ahead for The Challenge: All Stars Season 2.]
‘The Challenge: All Stars’ Season 2 winners, Jonna Mannion and MJ Garrett, have officially been crowned
The Challenge: All Stars Season 2 winners have officially been announced. Jonna Mannion and MJ Garrett crossed the finish line as partners, and they took home the grand prize. And the final certainly proved difficult, as it took place over two days. Nehemiah Clark and Melinda Collins; Darrell Taylor and Janelle Casanave; and Teck Holmes and Ayanna Mackins made up the other teams.
Entertainment Weekly reminds fans the final started with an endurance sleep challenge. One partner had to stand on a log while the other slept in a hammock, and then they could switch. By sunrise, host TJ Lavin returned to the scene. He explained the teams had to endure a long run to the “nucleus.”
The nucleus had instructions for three additional checkpoints, all of which could be completed in any order the teams chose. One of the checkpoints involved a tethered-together bike ride and completing a puzzle. The other two checkpoints involved a memory challenge.
After the three checkpoints, the remaining teams (Ayanna and Teck quit) had to endure an eating challenge and another memory game involving numbers to a safe. The first team, Jonna and MJ, opened the safe and won.
Jonna Mannion and MJ Garrett talked about the ‘broken’ checkpoint production gave them
The Challenge: All Stars Season 2 winners Jonna Mannion and MJ Garrett talked more about that final checkpoint. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the duo explained how production gave them a broken checkpoint with the safe.
“And this is where it got absolutely insane: We were trying to open it up and we knew that we had the three right numbers that we needed to open up the safe,” MJ explained to the publication. “We’re trying to put them in and it wouldn’t open. We look back at production and we say, ‘Do we have the right numbers? Do we have the right code to open this?’ And they said yes.”
MJ then said he and Jonna tried to put the numbers in again, but it wouldn’t work. Production told them to run toward the jet and forget the safe altogether. But it didn’t end there. As the team ran to the jet, production caught up to them in a truck and told them to double back.
“Then all of a sudden a pickup truck comes flying up next to us and they go, ‘Jump in the back! You’ve got to go back to the safe! You weren’t putting in the codes the right way!'” MJ added. “And we’re like, what the hell? So we jump in the back of the truck.”
It seems all the players had an issue with their safes, though. “And apparently they also had the right numbers,” Jonna said of the other teams. “And everybody was having trouble opening the safes.”
Will either of them join ‘The Challenge: All Stars’ Season 3 cast?
With Jonna Mannion and MJ Garrett winning The Challenge: All Stars Season 2, will they return for The Challenge: All Stars Season 3? Rumors suggest Jonna will return for the women, but MJ remains unconfirmed for the men. With that said, MJ told Entertainment Weekly he’d love to return, and Jonna said she wasn’t sure if she would return or not.
“Well, count me in,” MJ added. “Even with, like, C.T. [Tamburello], he could be on All Stars but he’s still there doing the regular Challenge and he’s winning. He just won back-to-back. So it would be really interesting to see All Stars versus these current Challengers.”
