‘The Challenge’: Amanda Garcia on Current Status With Fessy Shafaat: ‘He’s a Reality TV Boy’
The Challenge veteran Amanda Garcia and two-time finalist Fessy Shafaat started hooking up during Spies, Lies, and Allies. When asked about the showmance during the official after-show, she described it as “strategizing.” She gave another update on Instagram Live a couple of days after the premiere episode aired.
Amanda Garcia and Fessy Shafaat were both single going into ‘The Challenge 37’
Veteran Amanda Garcia last appeared in The Challenge: War of the Worlds partnered with Josh Martinez. During the season, a few male houseguests taped her mouth as a prank, but she claims it pulled her hair out.
She then said she wouldn’t compete in another season. Additionally, Garcia welcomed a child with her then fianceé in Feb. 2020. However, it didn’t work out, and she returned to the competition reality franchise single.
Two-time finalist Fessy Shafaat dated Haleigh Broucher, whom he met on Big Brother 20, but they split up in June 2020. Last season, he competed as a single man for the first time and kissed Ashley Mitchell and Gabby Allen in the house.
After Double Agents, he went on vacation with Tori Deal. However, he seemingly entered Spies, Lies, and Allies single as well.
They began a showmance during the season
Although it’s not clear when Garcia and Shafaat first hit it off, the premiere episode highlighted the two flirting and kissing. While he made it obvious he’s into her; she seemed more interested in making out with him and hiding their arrangement.
Garcia didn’t want her rival-turned-best friend Nelson Thomas to find out as he and the Big Brother star still had unresolved beef from last season, when Shafaat threw himself into elimination, ultimately taking his friend and ally out of the game.
Although the two-time finalist admitted he made a “selfish” move, Thomas seemingly has no interest in trusting him again. When the news got around to the veteran, the former friends began airing their grievances out in front of everyone, especially rookies who were taking note.
Still, Thomas said the two are welcome to explore their connection.
She gave an update on their current relationship after the premiere episode aired
After the premiere, Thomas and Garcia sat down with a few other co-stars and host Devyn Simone for the official after-show, The Challenge: Aftermath.
When asked about her relationship with Shafaat, the veteran described it as “polid—ing,” noting it was part of her strategy. Thomas admitted their hook-up surprised him, but Garcia promised she would choose her close friend over the Big Brother star if it came down to it.
During an Instagram Live with Mitchell, posted a couple of days after the premiere episode, Garcia gave an update on their current relationship. She explained she and Shafaat are only friends, claiming to have “humped him and dumped him.”
Additionally, Garcia called the two-time finalist “messy” and pointed out that he’s a “reality TV boy” who likes to mess around, which isn’t what she wants in a partner. The veteran and Shafaat later got on Instagram Live together, where they continued to joke around about their romance. The Challenge: Spies, Lies, and Allies airs Wednesdays on MTV.
