‘The Challenge’: Cara Maria Sorbello Reveals Exactly What Needs to Happen Before She Will Marry Paulie Calafiore
The Challenge stars Cara Maria Sorbello and Paulie Calafiore first met in the spring of 2018 while filming Final Reckoning. Sparks quickly flew between the two, despite the fact that he was in a relationship with The Bachelor star Danielle Maltby.
The couple has now been together for more than two years. But according to Cara, one specific thing needs to happen before she will marry Paulie.
‘The Challenge’ star was dating two women at once
After the Final Reckoning season aired, Paulie continued his relationship with Danielle while also dating Cara. It wasn’t until December 2018 — when both women publicly slammed him for two-timing them — that things changed.
“There were two completely different realities,” Cara told People magazine at the time. “I lived in one. Danielle lived in the other. I never knew he was texting her that he loved her and was doing everything with me so he could further his Challenge career to make money for their future.”
Cara and Paulie confirmed they were exclusive in 2019
Not long after Cara’s interview was published, Paulie ended things with Danielle. The Big Brother alum continued to date Cara, and they confirmed their exclusive relationship in May 2019.
The couple has been living together in Montana for a while now. But fans have been wondering what’s happening in their relationship since they haven’t appeared on The Challenge since War of the Worlds 2.
‘The Challenge’ star says marriage isn’t a priority
During a recent Instagram Q&A, a fan asked Cara if she saw marriage in her future with Paulie. The Challenge star replied with a photo of a list of ten goals she wants to achieve before she turns 40. She then explained to the fan that marriage isn’t a top priority right now.
“Priorities. We are crushing this goal list first! Money and success first, and a wedding to celebrate it all in the end. It will be the cherry on our life cake,” Cara wrote.
Cara reveals her list of life goals
In Cara’s list of goals, she included multiple financial objectives. Number one on the list was “start saving $5,000/month,” while number eight and nine were paying off credit cards and student loans. She also wants to start making $1,000 each month from a side hustle, start investing, buy her first home, and become a millionaire.
Other goals on the list included waking up early, reading five books a month, and exercising for an hour every day. The two-time Challenge champ says that both she and Paulie “have at least seven of these accomplished already.”
Will Cara or Paulie return to ‘The Challenge’?
After her last appearance on The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2, Cara decided to take a break after competing in seven straight seasons. According to Heavy, she said on a podcast last year that she needed some time off.
“You can’t put a price tag on happiness. For so long, I was, like, you know the money is so good. I can’t say no. I needed a little break for my own sanity and my own happiness, just finding what makes me me again and get my light back,” Cara said.
In an Instagram Live earlier this year, Cara said that Paulie wasn’t allowed to participate in season 35 because a number of cast members claimed they didn’t feel safe around him. Cara says she hasn’t gone back to the reality competition yet because of the way they handled Paulie’s situation. At this point, it’s not clear if either one will return to compete on The Challenge anytime soon.
