‘The Challenge’: Cara Maria Sorbello Just Called Wes Bergmann a ‘True Solid Man’ on Instagram
We’ve been keeping up with MTV’s The Challenge for two decades, and it’s hard to believe some contestants have been on the show since the very beginning. Cara Maria Sorbello is known for being a physical and mental threat on the show. And while she didn’t win War of the Worlds 2 with boyfriend and fellow contestant Paulie Calafiore, we imagine we’ll see her on future seasons.
She’s not the only memorable Challenge castmember, though. Wes Bergmann got his start on the show back in 2006, and he’s had multiple infamous incidents with Sorbello over the years as a result of their clashing personalities. But now, it seems Bergmann and Sorbello may have made amends, as Sorbello just praised him on Instagram.
Cara Maria Sorbello is celebrating the love of others for Valentine’s Day
Sorbello has a solid Instagram following thanks to her years of reality TV. And her fans became accustomed to her sharing super personal information about her life on social media, especially when it came to her relationship with Calafiore.
Sorbello and Calafiore met when filming Final Reckoning, and there was drama from the very beginning. Calafiore was cheating on his girlfriend at the time with Sorbello, and the tension nearly ruined the relationship he established with the Challenge competitor. But they eventually worked out their differences and are still going strong.
Fans love seeing Calafiore and Sorbello together on the ‘gram. But Sorbello has taken a step back from posting about her personal life on social media. Now, her Instagram is focused on her workouts and eating plans — though it’s clear she still loves love, as she reposted other peoples’ Instagram posts that they shared for Valentine’s Day to her Instagram Story. And she even featured Challenge host TJ Lavin in her Story thanks to the sweet anniversary post he added back in November 2019.
She and ‘Challenge’ contestant Wes Bergmann never got along
Sorbello had trouble making friends when she started her time on The Challenge due to her quirky personality. And her relationship with Bergmann never went over well. During Rivals, Bergmann infamously dumped a 2.5-liter bottle of soda over Sorbello’s head. And the confrontation ended with Bergmann screaming at Sorbello that she was unliked by everyone in the house.
While the soda incident happened years ago, their rivalry in The Challenge continues today. Sorbello added a post to Instagram on Jan. 6 of a raven, and Bergmann commented, “You’re so weird.” To that, Sorbello simply answered, “Thanks.”
Since Calafiore and Sorbello are so interconnected, he also frequently makes fun of Calafiore on the show and on Instagram, too.
Sorbello called him a ‘true solid man’ on her Instagram Story
Despite their differences, it seems Sorbello has some respect for Bergmann off-screen. While she re-posted sweet Instagram posts for Valentine’s Day, she included a post that Bergmann wrote for his wife. And Sorbello addressed her tumultuous relationship with Bergmann while also complimenting him.
“Despite his sly ways on the tele screen … he is a true solid man when it comes to his wife,” Sorbello wrote. “He always speaks about her in the highest regard. And despite his love of his dog, he never acts like a dog.”
Considering Sorbello’s been burned by Challenge romance in the past, we believe her when she talks highly of Bergmann in his relationship. But we’re still not expecting them to work together in the future. We know Sorbello won’t be on Season 35, as she felt over-villainized from the edit given to her in War of the Worlds 2. But we imagine she won’t stay off TV for long — and we expect to see Bergmann as well.
