‘The Challenge’: Cara Maria Sorbello Told Followers If She Gets Annoyed When They Ask About Her Relationship
We’ve been watching MTV’s The Challenge for over two decades, and Cara Maria Sorbello remained a returning champion for years. She’s grown significantly since she got her start on Fresh Meat II. And thanks to her physical strength and connections, she’s gotten herself into many finals on the seasons she competes in.
We’re also quite invested in Sorbello’s love life. She met her boyfriend, Paulie Calafiore, on the show. Their relationship hasn’t been drama-free, though — and while Sorbello used to post a lot about Calafiore to Instagram, she rarely does now.
Sorbello recently had an Instagram Q&A where she answered fan questions, too. Here’s what she told a fan who asked if she gets irritated when people flood her with questions about her relationship.
Cara Maria Sorbello had a rocky start to her relationship with Paulie Calafiore
Sorbello’s dated multiple Challenge competitors in the past, and when she met Calafiore, she had an instant connection. The two met on Final Reckoning and connected after Sorbello was having issues with her romantic interest at the time, Kyle Christie. We know Sorbello ended up falling for Calafiore over Christie, of course. But Calafiore had a girlfriend at the time.
Danielle Maltby was home waiting for Calafiore to return to her after The Challenge. Once she caught wind that her boyfriend was seeing Sorbello, though, she went to the press.
“He continued to tell me he loved me, that he was working on fixing this, that I was the end goal and honestly, you were nothing,” Maltby told Sorbello, People reports. “That he had to play this out for the show.”
Sorbello and Calafiore broke up briefly over the whole ordeal. But they got through it in the end and came out with a stronger bond.
She and Calafiore appear to still be going strong
Sorbello and Calafiore used to post plenty of content of each other to Instagram. But that seemed to cease over time — and many of Sorbello’s fans questioned whether she and Calafiore were still together.
While Sorbello never flat-out answered the question, she seemed to give fans an answer with her Instagram Story. In late January, both Sorbello and Calafiore shared they were headed to The Bahamas, and Sorbello featured Calafiore in her Story as they hung out in their resort room.
On Feb. 6, Sorbello also took to her Instagram to answer some fan questions. And her relationship status came up.
“Are you and pauly still together? You guys make such a cute couple,” one fan asked.
To that, Sorbello answered by telling the fan to head to some fan accounts on Instagram that show her and Calafiore happily in love.

Since Sorbello is a public figure, there’s no doubt she knew she’d have fans asking about her relationship status constantly. And a fan asked her, “Isn’t it annoying that people keep asking about your relationship status?”
To that, Sorbello answered, “Honestly, I know it comes from a good place from you guys. My life is public, I put everything out there, so I understand the questions. But for the time being, moving forward, my personal Instagram page is gonna be focused on other things.”
This was a bit of a round-about answer to the query. But even so, it seems clear that Sorbello and Calafiore are just fine, and Sorbello is changing up her Instagram content to reflect less of her personal life moving forward. All in all, it seems she’s not upset that fans want to know what’s going on, though. Hopefully, this means we’ll still get glimpses of Calafiore here and there.
