‘The Challenge’: Paulie Calafiore Reveals Which Competitor He ‘Respects’ the Most
Big Brother star Paulie Calafiore debuted on The Challenge shortly following a stint on the dating series Ex on the Beach. After three seasons, he took a break and has started training for the Olympic bobsledding team. In a recent Instagram question and answer, the MTV star revealed which competitor he “respects” the most.
Paulie Calafiore competed in three seasons of ‘The Challenge’
Following a memorable appearance on Big Brother 18, New Jersey native Paulie Calafiore debuted on MTV competition series The Challenge for Final Reckoning alongside nemesis Natalie Negrotti.
Despite getting eliminated in the third episode, they went on to win their way back into the competition. The two competed in the finals but came up short. However, he did meet eventual girlfriend veteran Cara Maria Sorbello during the season.
They both returned for War of the Worlds and made it reasonably far until he lost a mission, barely missing out on the finals. The couple then ran the house with a dominating alliance in War of the Worlds 2 to guarantee they made it to the end.
Although it worked, they got rid of their strong teammates and ended up collapsing during the final mission.
He and his girlfriend Cara Maria Sorbello currently on a break
After War of the Worlds 2 premiered, the couple announced a break from the competitive show. Sorbello, who had made it to the finals for five seasons straight, winning one, claimed she needed the time off for her “sanity” as she’s nearly spent the last few years living in a Challenge house.
However, a few castmates, namely veteran Jemmye Carroll, insisted the two didn’t ask for the time off but were asked not to return. Calafiore uploaded videos to social media calling out his cast members, and Carroll claimed some of the crew took it as a threat.
Therefore, the producers didn’t invite him back for another season, causing Sorbello to sit out in support of her boyfriend. Other reports say Calafiore failed a psych test necessary to compete in the show.
However, they denied both claims and insist their nemesis and multi-season champ Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio has blocked their return. The couple has since noted they’re open to returning to the show but seemingly haven’t received an invite yet.
Calafiore says he respects Turbo Çamkıran the most
During a Mar. 2021 Instagram question and answer, a fan asked the Big Brother star which competitor he admired the most. Calafiore simply responded by naming Turkish two-time Survivor champ Turbo Çamkıran with a picture of the two during season 34.
He debuted on War of the Worlds, immediately showing viewers he came to compete by winning several daily missions and the entire season, walking away with $750,000.
The returning champ competed on War of the Worlds 2, where he had another chance to win but ended up getting disqualified following a heated exchange with another competitor.
During both seasons, he competed on the show; he aligned with Sorbello and Calafiore. It’s unclear if any of these players will return for another season. The Challenge 36 airs Wednesdays at 8/7 Central on MTV.
