‘The Challenge’ Season 37: CT Tamburello on ‘Spies, Lies, and Allies’ — ‘I Think the Name of This Game is Survival’
The Challenge has dropped the super trailer for season 37 — Spies, Lies, and Allies. It promises lots of drama, with betrayals and hookups among the large cast of both American and international competitors. According to four-time winner CT Tamburello, “the name of this game is survival.”
Warning: Major spoilers ahead for The Challenge: Spies, Lies, and Allies
‘The Challenge’ season 37 cast features more rookies than vets
The Challenge: Spies, Lies, and Allies features a 34-person cast that includes 19 rookies from around the globe. The newbies will definitely have their work cut out for them, as they are competing against 15 experienced players. Most of whom are still looking for their first win. The only exceptions are CT — who won season 36 Double Agents — and two-time winner Ashley “Millionaire” Mitchell.
The other returning male veterans are, Nelson Thomas, Cory Wharton, Josh Martinez, Kyle Christie, Fessy Shafaat, Devin Walker, and Nam Vo. For the female vets there is ,Nany González, Aneesa Ferreira, Kaycee Clark, Amanda Garcia, Big T Fazakerley, and Tori Deal.
The trailer also teases the return of CT’s fellow winner in season 36, Amber Borzotra. It appears she enters the game at some point as an alternate.
Is there a ‘veteran super alliance’?
With most of the vets on Spies, Lies, and Allies still hungry for their first Challenge win — not to mention the fact that many have a history of not liking each other — it appears that the upcoming season could get viciously competitive.
The new trailer suggests that the veterans create a “super alliance” during season 37, which will begin with one U.S. cast member paired with one international contestant. According to The Challenge Chronicles podcast, the vets had “no choice” but to create the veteran “super alliance” in order to take out the rookies.
CT Tamburello says the name of the game in ‘The Challenge’ season 37 is ‘survival’
In the new trailer, Kyle Christie notes that the veteran alliance is “a very fragile one.” While CT adds that he thinks “the name of this game is survival.” The three-minute video also shows footage of Josh and Fessy getting into a physical fight. And as Showbiz Cheat Sheet has previously reported, this will lead to Fessy’s disqualification.
The preview also shows that injuries will come into play this season. One image was of Aneesa getting her arm wrapped up while she writhes in pain. Newbie Michele Fitzgerald is shown swimming with a bloody nose. While her fellow newcomer and Survivor winner Tommy Sheehan is laying on his back and getting checked out by a medic.
The hookup drama is back in ‘Spies, Lies, and Allies’
For fans who were missing the hookup drama during The Challenge: Double Agents, the promo for season 37 looks pretty steamy. The footage shows a makeout session between Fessy and Amanda, as well as Nany and Kaycee kissing. There’s also a clip of Nelson and Ashley hooking up. And, Michele gets cozy with Survivor Romania’s Emanuel Neagu.
As for the daily challenges, they look bigger than ever. The promo showed everything from explosions to a jet flipping upside down. As host TJ Lavin puts it, “Legends will be made here.”
Spoilers reveal that ‘The Challenge’ vets will come out on top
Despite the fact that the rookies outnumber the vets, it looks like the veteran “super alliance” worked out. According to multiple spoilers, the final has almost all vets — Nany, Tori, Nelson, Kyle, Devin, CT, and Kaycee. The only rookie is Emy Alupei from Survivor Romania
As for the winners, Kaycee reportedly takes home part of the $1 million prize for the women. On the men’s side, CT allegedly gets his second straight victory and fifth win overall.
If these unconfirmed rumors are true, he’s definitely giving Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio a run for his money when it comes to the title of Challenge GOAT.
The Challenge: Spies, Lies, and Allies premieres on August 11, 2021, on MTV.
