Fans of MTV’s The Challenge can’t wait for The Challenge Season 38. Season 37, Spies, Lies, and Allies, brought a ton of rookie players into the spotlight — and fans missed some of their favorite veterans, like Kailah Casillas. So, will Kayla return to the game for another season? Sadly, she announced her retirement from the flagship show, but she might not be finished with the series altogether.

What happened to Kailah Casillas from ‘The Challenge’? She didn’t return due to coronavirus concerns

Kailah Casillas got her start on Real World and then went to compete on The Challenge: Vendettas, Invasion of the Champions, Dirty 30, Champs vs. Stars, Final Reckoning, and Total Madness. While she doesn’t have a win under her belt, she was known as a fierce physical competitor. And she also got herself into trouble with the production team.

So, why hasn’t Kailah competed on the show — and what could this mean for The Challenge Season 38? She told a follower that she didn’t feel completely comfortable returning to the show in the middle of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Additionally, she noted she’s very busy with other endeavors, and she felt she outgrew the show.

“I have moved so far past the idea of dealing with drama, public scrutiny, and the petty problems (and people) that are attached to being on the show,” she said on her Instagram Stories, according to a Reddit screenshot.

MTV hasn’t officially announced anything for The Challenge Season 38, but rumors suggest the network is already calling potential cast members to see if they’ll compete. Monsters & Critics reports spoiler guru PinkRose said a ton of veterans received casting calls, including Cara Maria Sorbello and Paulie Calafiore. This likely means Kailah Casillas received a call — but she recently told a fan she’s not joining the flagship series.

“My answer to this is: I’m retired from the regular Challenge, I 100% cannot commit to filming for that long … but maybe I’ll pop up somewhere else!” Kailah told a fan on her Instagram Stories who asked if they’ll see her return, according to Reddit.

It’s likely Kailah’s talking about returning to The Challenge: All Stars Season 3. All Stars doesn’t have the same time commitment, and it’s not the “regular” Challenge.

While The Challenge Season 38 reportedly won’t start filming until March 2022, The Challenge: All Stars Season 3 reportedly already filmed. So, did Kailah Casillas join The Challenge: All Stars Season 3 cast?

PinkRose reports she did join the cast, so fans can look forward to seeing her compete next season. Fans on Reddit think this serves as a great move for Kailah, too.

“I don’t know why anyone eligible for All Stars would continue doing the main show,” a fan wrote. “The cast is less competitive, much smaller, and the filming schedule is months shorter. I imagine the biggest difference is the appearance fee, which is probably why CT hasn’t jumped over yet.”

Some fans don’t think Kailah fits the right demographic to take part in All Stars, though. ” … She feels like a different era than the OGs,” another fan wrote. “I know people who watch All Stars for the nostalgia factor and none of them will have any idea who she is.”

We’re excited to watch her compete in the Paramount+ show!
