[SPOILER ALERT: Spoilers for The Chi Season 5 premiere episode.]

Friends Emmett (Jacob Latimore) and Kiesha (Birgundi Baker) seemingly always had something deeper between them. Showtime’s The Chi Season 5 will likely explore a possible relationship between the two. Are they going to end up together?

Emmett had a sex dream about Kiesha in ‘The Chi’ Season 5

When The Chi first premiered, Kiesha (Birgundi Baker) and Emmett (Jacob Latimore) were depicted as “friends with benefits” who never had a romantic relationship. Regardless, the two clearly have chemistry.

Emmett was affected when Kiesha went missing last season, and she seems to care about the restaurant owner and is proud that he’s gotten his life back on track.

Season 5 kicks off with a scene showing Emmett and Kiesha appearing to have sex. However, it’s revealed as Emmett’s dream that his wife Tiffany (Hannaha Hall) wakes him out of to let him know that she and their son EJ (Delan Jackson) are leaving to stay with her mom.

Although Emmett dreams about Kiesha, he wants his family back and goes to Tiffany’s mother’s house, hoping they will return. But, she admitted she didn’t want to be married anymore and focused on finding herself.

Tiffany left Emmett in ‘The Chi’ Season 5

It seemed as though Tiffany and Emmett were end game as she stood by his side despite the infidelities. However, he started changing and became more serious about caring for his multiple children and stopped cheating on her.

Emmett then met local cook Dom (LaLa Anthony) and hooked up with her.

Not wanting to lose Tiffany, he proposed to her and married before eventually owning up to having sex with Dom when the two established a good friendship and working relationship.

The two agreed to open up their marriage, but it went a little left when the situation proved to Emmett he wanted to commit while she began realizing what she might be missing out on. As Tiffany grows closer to Rob (Iman Shumpert), ultimately moving her and her son in with him, Emmett continues his journey to becoming a better man, presumably for Kiesha.

Kiesha is also recently single

Last season, Kiesha went through a traumatic ordeal when she got kidnapped during her daily jog. Feeling compelled to help, Ronnie (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine) found her, and Kiesha fought off her attacker, seemingly killing him before finally escaping.

She continued dealing with posttraumatic stress as she would lock herself in her room holding a pair of scissors and had difficulty going on her runs. Additionally, Kiesha discovered her assailant got her pregnant. Initially opting to terminate the pregnancy, she chose to keep her child and give them away for adoption.

After finding seemingly the perfect candidate, Kiesha handed over her son after childbirth. However, she regretted her decision and took custody back, naming the child after Ronnie, who was killed after saving her. Ineligible to attend school on a track scholarship, Kiesha began working at a thrift shop, where she met Christian. The two developed a good friendship, eventually kissing following a date.

However, in season 5, she ended things with him, wanting to focus on herself and a new relationship with her son. Kiesha and Emmett’s respective breakups happened during the premiere, giving the rest of the season for the two to make their way to each other. In a YouTube video teasing the new season, Jacob Latimore, who portrays Emmett, admitted that their potential budding relationship might happen overnight due to Kiesha’s close friendship with Tiffany. The Chi airs Sunday on Showtime.
