The Chi will return to Showtime on June 26, picking up after that shocking cliffhanger ending, in which Otis “Douda” Perry was forced out of office amid a potential scandal. Showtime shared the official description for the new season in a press release. It reads,
“This season on THE CHI delves deeply into the many joys and complications of Black love: relationships, children, career, community, and self. Kevin (Alex Hibbert) finds new love in an unexpected place, while Jake (Michael V. Epps) and Papa (Shamon Brown Jr.) try to resolve things with Jemma (Judae’a Brown) and Maisha (Genesis Denise Hale). New mom Kiesha (Birgundi Baker) works to build her life with baby Ronnie, while Nina (Tyla Abercrumbie) and Dre (Miriam A. Hyman) work at rebuilding their union as they support Lynae (Zara Primer). Jada (Yolonda Ross) assesses her life post-cancer and where Suede (Bernard Gilbert) fits, while Darnell (Rolando Boyce) considers the past for guidance on his future with Dom (La La Anthony). Roselyn’s (Kandi Burruss) new pet project places her at odds with Tracy (Tai Davis). Meanwhile, with a push from Douda (Curtiss Cook) and a helping hand from Shaad (Jason Weaver), Trig (Luke James) considers a political run that might help his city, but at what cost to him and his family?”

Some fans predicted a pregnancy storyline after seeing a ‘clue’ in the trailer for ‘The Chi’ Season 5
After the trailer was released, fans began picking apart every detail to try and piece together what’ll happen on the show. Some scenes sparked speculation that Jake and Jemma might even be expecting a baby together. The theory, explained on the YouTube page MarkDarkTV, points to an image where Jemma is shown sitting in an apparent bathroom with Maisha with a devastated look on her face. She also appears to go to the hospital later with Jake.
“It does make sense in my opinion that she could be pregnant,” Mark says. “We know her and Jake are hooking up, and it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s the news they end up finding out.”
Many viewers felt it was a likely outcome too.
“It’s possible that she might be pregnant and if that’s the case it’s not gonna end well💯🔥,” one comment read.
“That will be crazy if Jake actually got jemma pregnant,” said another.
Some shared ideas about what they might do if Jemma indeed turns out to be pregnant.
“I think Jemma might be pregnant and decides to get an abortion,” one fan said.
“maybe it’s an abortion that her dad made her get,” another wrote.
Some, however, had different ideas for Jake and Jemma
At the same time, some predicted something else might be going on with Jemma.
“I think she finds out Jake knew her father was hurt in the house and was ok with leaving her father to die,” one fan wrote, referring to Douda’s brutal attack on Marcus St. John. “Maybe that’s weighing on her. Maybe she is just ill or she has a miscarriage. That’s heavy.”
Another wrote, “Perhaps Jemma is pregnant but she had a miscarriage. Or maybe she tried to commit Su!c!de and Jake is comforting her in the scene. We’ll see once it airs.”
Whatever happens, hopefully, she’ll be OK. Check out The Chi Season 5 when it returns to Showtime this June.
