The Crown may sweep the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards thanks to its magnificent tale of the royal family. And it looks like a number of fan favorites are part of the Emmy Awards 2021 nominees, too. With season 5 in the show’s future, which Emmy-nominated actors will join The Crown Season 5 cast?

Who has won Emmys for ‘The Crown’? Who’s nominated this year?

The Crown is no stranger to winning awards. And now that The Crown Season 5 is on the horizon, we can expect future awards for the show, too. So, who from The Crown cast has won an Emmy Award in the past?

Fans know Claire Foy was awarded in the past. Deadline reports Foy received the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2018. She made appearances in 21 episodes of the show from 2016-2017, and she continued to make appearances in episodes in 2020. In 2021, Foy already won Creative Emmy Award for Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

Additionally, John Lithgow won the Primetime Emmy in 2017 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Stephen Daldry won in 2018 for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series, and the show won a number of Creative Arts Emmy Awards from 2017 to 2020. Those include Outstanding Costumes for a Period/Fantasy Series, Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, Outstanding Guest Actor and Actress in a Drama Series, among others.

This year, the Emmy Awards 2021 nominees for The Crown include Josh O’Connor, Emma Corrin, Olivia Colman, Emerald Fennell, Gillian Anderson, Tobias Menzies, Helena Bonham Carter, according to IMDb.

Which Emmy Awards 2021 nominees will return in ‘The Crown’ Season 5 cast?

So, which of the Emmy Awards 2021 nominees will return in The Crown Season 5 cast? It seems a few familiar faces won’t return to the series. According to Elle, Josh O’Connor, who played Prince Charles for seasons 3 and 4, will now get replaced by Dominic West.

Will Olivia Colman be in The Crown Season 5? While she made a fantastic Queen Elizabeth II, Imelda Staunton will take over in the new season.

Tobias Menzies also won’t return as Prince Philip, as Jonathan Pryce is reportedly taking over. Emerald Fennell and Helena Bonham Carter also won’t reprise their roles. Bonham Carter is getting replaced by Lesley Manville.

Is Emma Corrin in The Crown Season 5? It seems she won’t make her return as the current Princess Diana. But she will still make appearances in the new season. “Under normal circumstances, The Crown’s rule is that the entire cast changes after every two series, but Emma has been exceptional as Di,” a source told The Sun, according to Elle. “So although Elizabeth will take over the role, they’re looking at ways that her predecessor can appear, albeit in flashbacks to her younger years.” Elizabeth Debicki will take on Princess Diana in seasons 5 and 6.

Gillian Anderson will return as Margaret Thatcher, according to Harper’s Bazaar.

While it sounded like fans would only get five seasons of the beloved show, Netflix and writer Peter Morgan confirmed fans would get The Crown Season 6 as well. “As we started to discuss the storylines for series five, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons,” Morgan stated, according to Harper’s Bazaar.
