The Dropout is recounting the story of Elizabeth Holmes (Amanda Seyfried) and her biotech company Theranos through its eight-episode run on Hulu, and the latest installment highlights the obstacles that followed the company’s deal with Walgreens. The next chapter should ramp up the stakes as Elizabeth faces legal challenges. What is the release date and time for The Dropout Episode 6?

Theranos faces a deadline and lawsuit in ‘The Dropout’ Episode 5

The Dropout Episode 5, dubbed “Flowers of Life,” picks up in 2013, three years after Walgreens agrees to distribute Theranos’ technology in retail stores. It seems Theranos hasn’t made much progress in that time, and the executives at Walgreens are growing frustrated. As such, they give Elizabeth a deadline to produce a working product they can sell.

Of course, that looming deadline isn’t the only problem Elizabeth and Sunny Balwani (Naveen Andrews) face in episode 5. In addition to relationship woes, the two are also dealing with Richard Fuisz’s (William H. Macy) lawsuit against Theranos.

Ian Gibbons (Stephen Fry) is called to testify, and he could bring the operation crumbling down. However, Ian dies by suicide. It’s one of the most tragic moments from this fictionalized take on Elizabeth Holmes’ story so far.

Of course, even without Ian’s testimony, Elizabeth isn’t in the clear. This week introduces more troublesome dynamics, including new employee Tyler Shultz (Dylan Minnette) and the return of Phyllis Gardner (Laurie Metcalf).

The Dropout Episode 6 promises to crack Elizabeth and Sunny’s deceptions open further. But when does it come out, and what can fans expect from this installment?

Episode 5’s final proclamation that Elizabeth Holmes is a fraud leaves The Dropout in an interesting place heading into episode 6. Although the Hulu series hasn’t seen the truth coming out just yet, it sounds like that could happen next week. The sixth chapter is called “Iron Sisters,” and it promises to show multiple parties working to expose Theranos.

Courtesy of Hulu, here’s the synopsis for The Dropout Episode 6:

“Fresh out of college and newly employed by Theranos, Tyler Schultz and Erika Cheung discover shocking truths about Elizabeth and the company. Richard and Phyllis work with John Carreyrou to build a case against Elizabeth.”

The stakes are getting higher and higher as the show approaches Elizabeth’s trial and conviction. It’ll be interesting to see how it brings those real-life events to the small screen.

The first five episodes of The Dropout are currently streaming on Hulu.
