The Duggar Family Hasn’t Acknowledged Jed Duggar’s Baby on Social Media
TL;DR:
- Jed Duggar and wife Katey Nakatsu had their first child, Truett Oliver Duggar.
- The Duggar Family Instagram hasn’t acknowledged the birth of the baby.
- Josh Duggar’s upcoming sentencing may have something to do with the silence.
Jed Duggar and wife Katey Nakatsu just welcomed their first child, and the couple was over the moon to announce the baby’s arrival. The Duggar Family Instagram, seemingly run by Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, remains silent regarding the new baby, though — and it could have something to do with Josh Duggar’s sentencing happening soon.
Jed Duggar and his wife, Katey Nakatsu, welcomed their first child
Jed Duggar and wife Katey Nakatsu are excited to announce their new baby. “He’s here!” the couple wrote on Instagram. “We love you so much, baby True!” Within the post, they gave more information. “Truett Oliver Duggar,” the post continued, “Born Monday, May 2. 6:34 p.m., 8 lb 5 oz, 0.5 inches.” The couple also explained that “Truett” means “warrior for Christ,” and “Oliver” means “peace.”
In addition to their Instagram announcement, the couple gave more details about the birth in their YouTube video. Jed revealed that the baby’s heart rate dropped during labor, causing the nurses to “rush in” and help save the baby, People reports. “They woke us up and had Katey flip over on her belly and do some different things,” he noted. “And his heart rate was able to go back up.”
The couple had their first child 13 months after quietly having a wedding. While Duggar family followers had a hunch that Jed was prepping for marriage, he and the rest of the Duggars kept quiet about the nuptials until after the wedding was over.
The Duggar Family Instagram hasn’t posted about Jed’s new baby
Jed Duggar and Katey Nakatsu are certainly excited to welcome Truett into the world. But the Duggar Family Instagram remains quiet regarding the new baby. The Instagram account typically chronicles major family events, but they haven’t created any new posts since Jeremiah Duggar’s wedding in March 2022.
Additionally, the Instagram didn’t comment on Jed’s page. The only Duggar family member to comment on Jed’s post about Truett was Jill Duggar.
“He is soooo adorable!! Congrats guys!” Jill wrote.
Jill is also currently pregnant, and she still shares regular updates regarding her life and family on her personal Instagram page. Jill’s husband, Derick Dillard, made headlines in the past for remaining quite outspoken about Jill’s family, notably Jim Bob Duggar. It’s unclear where Jill and Jed stand now, but given the Instagram comment, it appears they’re on good terms.
Josh Duggar’s sentencing may account for the Duggar family’s silence
So, why has the Duggar Family Instagram remained quiet about Jed Duggar’s newborn? Josh Duggar’s sentencing might explain it.
Josh Duggar’s trial found him guilty of possessing child sexual abuse material, and his new sentencing date is set for May 25, 2022, People reports. The original date was in April 2022, but his legal team requested more time. Josh faces up to 20 years of imprisonment and up to $250,000 for each count.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar — as well as Josh Duggar’s wife, Anna Duggar — will likely remain silent until well after Josh’s sentencing. The Duggar Family Instagram has only posted a few times since the trial ended, and they also limit commenting capabilities. The Duggars will likely keep a low profile until Josh is out of sight and mind for former fans.
