‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’: Ariana Grande Didn’t Want to Talk About Her Relationship With Mac Miller on the Show While Dating Him
It’s hard to keep up with Ariana Grande’s love life. The singer’s relationship with comedian Pete Davidson garnered a ton of attention, as the two broke up after their short-lived engagement. Now, Grande is engaged once again. But we can’t forget about her relationship with musician Mac Miller.
Ellen DeGeneres tried to talk to Grande about her romance with Miller on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, but Grande didn’t want to participate. Here’s what happened.
Ariana Grande said Mac Miller always knew she was the one for him
Grande and Miller started off as great friends, as they worked together on their music. But Miller allegedly knew Grande was the one he wanted to be with.
“Our families have known the entire time,” Grande told Cosmopolitan in 2017. “He saw a [magazine] cover of mine four or five Thanksgivings ago and told his mom, ‘She’s The One.’ How cute is that? That was before we were even talking.”
While Miller knew Grande was the one for him immediately, she wasn’t so sure. “We have loved and adored and respected each other since the beginning, since before we even met, just because we were fans of each other’s talent,” she explained. “We weren’t ready at all, though, to be together. It’s just timing. We both needed to experience some things, but the love has been there the whole time.”
The two dated from 2016 to May 2018, and Miller died just months after their breakup in September 2018.
Grande didn’t want to talk about her relationship with Miller on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’
During Grande and Miller’s relationship, Grande visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about her career and performances. And, of course, DeGeneres brought up Miller. Grande noted that she and Miller were “babies” when they first performed together on DeGeneres’ talk show.
“I asked you something about him, and you said, ‘I’m his homie,'” DeGeneres told Grande. “And now he’s living in your homie. That was three years ago.”
Grande responded by nodding affirmatively to DeGeneres’ words about the romance, but she didn’t offer much else.
“This is so crazy,” Grande added. “I’ve never had the relationship talk on a show before.”
“It’s just me so far,” DeGeneres noted. “You haven’t joined in. … But you’re with him, right? And you’re happy and stuff?”
“Yeah,” Grande answered before immediately hiding in her large coat.
“Thanks, that’s good. Good talk,” DeGeneres sarcastically added.
Grande is now engaged to Dalton Gomez
After Miller’s death, Grande was devastated, and she talked a lot about the special memories she had with him. She also ultimately decided her relationship with Davidson wasn’t right for her, either. Now, she’s with Dalton Gomez, and the two are engaged after less than a year of dating.
Grande and Gomez reportedly met early on in 2020, and they’ve been spending ample time together since March 2020. Now, in December 2020, they’re preparing to tie the knot. And Grande posted photos of Gomez and her engagement ring to Instagram mid-December. “Forever n then some,” she captioned the post.
Grande’s relationship with Gomez might be one of her most private yet. She doesn’t post about her boyfriend, which is certainly a purposeful move considering how her very-public relationship with Davidson backfired. We’re hoping she’s happier than ever now!
