‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’: Shia LaBeouf Said His Private Wedding to Mia Goth Was Streamed Live Without His Knowledge
Shia LaBeouf is getting more attention than ever due to the allegations set against him by his previous girlfriend, FKA Twigs. Prior to LaBeouf’s relationship with Twigs, we can’t forget he was involved with actor Mia Goth. And the two even allegedly got married.
LaBeouf once revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that he had no idea his Vegas wedding to Goth would be live-streamed. Here’s what happened.
Shia LaBeouf said he married Mia Goth in 2016
LaBeouf and Goth met all the way back in 2012, but they didn’t decide to tie the knot until years later. PopSugar reports the two actors decided to get hitched in Las Vegas back in October 2016, and it was quite a spectacle. There was an Elvis Presley impersonator, a fog machine, and a hula dancer present.
The ceremony was incredibly small as well. According to PopSugar, the couple was joined by LaBeouf’s mother, and she seemed ultra-proud of her son and daughter-in-law.
It seems there might’ve been some issues with Goth and LaBeouf’s actual marriage, though. Clark County, Nevada — the county where the wedding took place, tweeted that the couple didn’t have a marriage license. “Our records show no marriage license for Shia LaBeouf & Mia Goth. A commitment ceremony was performed #Vegas,” the county tweeted.
Despite the controversy, Goth seemed very proud to be married to LaBeouf. “I’m incredibly proud of him and I have great respect for him,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I try to keep my private life private and just stick to the work.”
LaBeouf said his wedding was streamed live without him knowing
The quirkiest aspect of LaBeouf and Goth’s wedding was that it was streamed live via TMZ when it happened. But according to LaBeouf, that was entirely an accident. While the live stream seemed intentional, LaBeouf told Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that it was actually supposed to be filmed privately.
According to Entertainment Weekly, LaBeouf told DeGeneres back in 2016, “The plan was for it to be a private deal. And part of the package, the King Tut package, you get a live stream for free — part of the deal.” But he then noted that both he and Goth turned down the live stream offer since their moms were in attendance. What the couple wanted instead was a private taping. Unfortunately, the wedding wasn’t privately taped and was instead still live-streamed to TMZ.
“We get back home and it’s like, ‘Whoa, hey listen, something changed!’” LaBeouf continued. “I call them up and they said somebody pressed the wrong button that sends the video to TMZ.” All in all, it wasn’t so bad, though. After realizing everyone saw their wedding, LaBeouf and Goth didn’t seem to mind.
LaBeouf and Goth ultimately divorced
While LaBeouf and Goth appeared happily in love, they ultimately couldn’t make their relationship work. And LaBeouf’s difficult attitude could’ve had something to do with it. While the couple stated they were divorcing amicably in 2018, other sources stated Goth was done with LaBeouf’s unpredictable attitude.
“Mia had been having some problems with Shia,” a friend of Goth’s allegedly told the Daily Mail, according to HollywoodLife. “It was a very crazy relationship and he is very fiery. She has told her friends that she can’t take any more. When he was preparing for a part, Mia would keep away from him and move out because his rehearsals were so intense.”
We may never really know what happened between LaBeouf and Goth. But their odd TMZ live-streamed wedding will live on forever.
