‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’: Anthony Mackie Said His Kids Are ‘Really Not Into’ Him Joining the MCU
Anthony Mackie currently stars in the Marvel Cinematic Universe limited series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The theatre-trained actor plays the Falcon alongside Sebastian Stan. Mackie took on the show after starring in several MCU films such as Captain America: Civil War. Although he received tons of praise from Marvel fans, the 8 Mile actor has yet to impress some of the people closest to him with his memorable roles.

Before The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Mackie already had an impressive resume. The New Orleans native started his acting career in the early 2000s. After graduating from Juilliard School, Mackie appeared in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and A Soldier’s Play. Soon, he transitioned to film and played supporting parts in 8 Mile with Eminem and Notorious, where he portrayed Tupac Shakur.
After working on several films as a secondary character, Mackie joined the MCU in 2014. According to IMDb, the She Hate Me star made his first appearance as Sam Wilson/The Falcon in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The 42-year-old actor continued to work on Avengers films throughout the 2010s. Along the way, he booked opportunities on movies including Miss Bala and The Hate U Give.
Since becoming famous, Mackie notoriously keeps his loved ones away from the spotlight. He and his ex-wife, Sheleta Chapital, shield their four sons from social media and the public. However, the actor often gushes about his kids in interviews.
“The most rewarding part [of fatherhood] is seeing them grow up to be good human beings, really nice kids,” Mackie explained to Fatherly in July 2020.

In 2021, Marvel aired The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+. The series followed The Falcon and Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier (Stan) as they join forces in a global adventure that highlights their skills. The series also stars Wyatt Russell and Emily VanCamp. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier became the most-watched series for Disney+ when it premiered on March 19.
Despite being a global phenomenon, Mackie said his sons “couldn’t care less” about his historical series. During an interview with People, the actor declared that his kids never get excited over his acting roles.
“They’re pretty much really not into me as an actor at all,” Mackie said. “It’s shockingly funny how much they couldn’t care less about me being in movies.”
Is the MCU series coming back for another season?
After six episodes, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier aired the final part of the limited series on April 23, 2021. So far, MCU doesn’t have any plans to bring the show back for another season. However, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Marvel would premiere Captain America 4 soon.
Although MCU has yet to announce Captain America 4 cast, Mackie and Stan will most likely appear. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier creator Malcolm Spellman is penning the script for the action film.
