Pedro Jimeno and Chantel Everett returned to TLC with the second season of their popular 90 Day Fiancé spin-off, The Family Chantel, on October 12. While there was plenty of drama among Chantel’s family – especially because of her older brother Royal’s recent marriage to Angenette, a younger woman from the Philippines – another emerging storyline focused on Pedro’s sister, Nicole Jimeno.

On the season premiere of The Family Chantel, Nicole (who still lives in her home country of the Dominican Republic) revealed that she was in love with a new man, Alejandro Padron. Nicole told fans she was already head over heels for her new boyfriend and hastily making plans for their future together. But Pedro and Nicole’s mom, Lidia Jimeno, seemed less than thrilled about her daughter’s romantic choices.

Nicole said she was ‘super in love’ with Alejandro

On The Family Chantel, Nicole headed to the beach with her friend, Coraima (who famously fought with Chantel over Pedro on the first season).

But Pedro’s sister said she wasn’t too worried about “Pedro’s problems” these days. After all, she had too much going on herself.

“I’m in love!” Nicole revealed, grinning from ear to ear. “Honestly, I’m super in love.”

The 90 Day Fiancé star shared that she and her new boyfriend, Alejandro – who is also Dominican and lives in New York – had been together a few months now, including two in-person visits.

Nicole explained that she and her new man met years ago at a party. She’d seen him on Instagram ever since then. When he finally slid into her DMs, he was more than a little bold.

“The first thing he asked me was, ‘When are you coming to visit?’” Nicole shared.

Alejandro also regularly showered Nicole with gifts, which was one of the ways he “showed her his love.”

“Alejandro is a very attentive man,” Pedro’s sister gushed. “He gifts me shoes, a watch, a cell phone…He’s the most amazing man I’ve met in my entire life.”

Pedro’s sister hinted at a secret that her mom might disapprove of

Coraima was a little alarmed at just how quickly things were moving between Nicole and Alejandro. She’d only been to New York twice to see him so far, but she already had another trip planned – and even hoped to live with him in the U.S., sooner rather than later.

The 90 Day Fiancé star lamented that long-distance relationships were more “complicated” and challenging than she’d anticipated. Still, although Alejandro and Nicole already had plans to move in together, Nicole wasn’t ready to introduce him to her famously assertive mom, Lidia. In fact, she hoped she’d never have to do so at all.

“I don’t want to introduce him to her,” Nicole told her friend nervously. “Just thinking about it stresses me out.”

In addition to her mom’s overall skepticism, there was yet another reason Nicole wanted to keep her new man far away from Lidia and the Dominican Republic.

According to Nicole, there was a “secret” she was hiding for Alejandro. If her mom found out about it, Pedro’s sister worried that she wouldn’t want to get to know her new boyfriend at all.

Pedro worried about his sister’s choices with men

Nicole might have hoped she could keep her new man away from her mom, but her brother made sure that wasn’t the case. During a video chat with his mom and sister, Pedro brought up Alejandro right away.

“What do you mean?” Nicole asked innocently, shooting an angry glance at her brother for spilling the beans.

“You posted a hot photo on Instagram the other day, kissing some guy,” Pedro tattled.

Nicole asked if they could talk about this when their mom wasn’t around, but her brother wasn’t having it. The 90 Day Fiancé star told producers his sister had made “bad choices” in the past with guys, and he hoped this wasn’t yet another example of Nicole going down the wrong road with a boyfriend.

Nicole and Pedro’s mom shared her son’s worries.

“I don’t think he’s the right person for her,” Lidia exclaimed. “I think she could find someone better.”

Previews for later episodes of The Family Chantel revealed that all of Nicole’s worst fears came true. Pedro accused Nicole of being “full of lies” and “hiding things” after meeting up with Alejandro in New York. Meanwhile, Lidia appeared to kick Nicole’s boyfriend out of the house in a rage during his trip to the Dominican Republic – telling her daughter in no uncertain terms that this wasn’t the man for her.
