‘Bridgerton’ used an intimacy coordinator

To make sure filming the sex scenes in Bridgerton was as safe as possible for the actors, an intimacy coordinator was present during rehearsals and filming. On Jan. 12, Access Hollywood published an interview with the intimacy coordinator on Bridgerton, Lizzy Talbot.

“So an intimacy coordinator is someone who works with the actors and the crew in the production to ensure the safety and respect of the actor when they’re working with simulated sex or nudity,” Talbot explained.

She continued, “We were really lucky in that we had so much rehearsal time. Shondaland were incredibly gracious with that. It’s not always the case, but we were really lucky to have all of that rehearsal time.”

Phoebe Dynevor filmed this scene in ‘Bridgerton’ first

In Season 1 Episode 6 of Bridgerton, “Swish,” Simon and Daphne travel to Clyvedon for their honeymoon. The episode shows Daphne adjusting to her role as a duchess. The episode also features a montage of sex scenes set to a string version of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams.”

“All of those scenes were shot like over about a month in Yorkshire,” Talbot told Access Hollywood. “It was so dense… you know we were outside by a lake, we were you know, up a ladder, we were like in a gazebo.”

One of those sex scenes took place in a library, and it turns out it was the first scene Dynevor filmed for the show.

“I don’t think it was Regé’s first scene, but it was certainly Phoebe’s,” Talbot said. “But it was the first day of filming… this was the first scene that they were filming together.”

How Regé-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor’s chemistry ‘built’ during filming

During the interview, Talbot also expanded on the chemistry between Page and Dynevor.

“So there was obviously such a like a lovely, friendly connection between them when I first started, because I don’t think they’d actually been doing a huge amount of work together before I got involved,” she said.

According to the intimacy coordinator, Dynevor and Page’s chemistry “built” throughout rehearsals and filming for Bridgerton.

“It sort of built as we went on really,” Talbot said. “Especially when we had so much rehearsal time, you know, when you’re doing those types of scenes you get to know someone pretty well… we had a lot of fun in those rehearsals and they were extensive.”
