‘The Flash’: Grant Gustin Rumored to Guest Star in Ezra Miller’s ‘the Flash’ Movie
Grant Gustin cemented his role in the CW show The Flash in 2014 after he made a two-episode cameo in Arrow. Since then, the DC superhero has been a staple with the public, with his popularity growing by the hour. The Flash has made several cameos in the DC TV series appearing in the major crossover episodes in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and other shows like Supergirl.
It seems the speedster isn’t done appearing in other installments of the DCEU as it was recently announced that the CW’S Flash played by Grant Gustin, will guest star in Ezra Miller’s The Flash movie.
‘The Flash’ recently wrapped up its 7th season
The Flash ended its 7th season in high gear in 2020, with Netflix recently putting up all of the new season’s episodes for viewers to binge. The CW greenlit Season 8 in February 2021, and the beloved series is expected to air in November 2021 for 23 episodes.
Meanwhile, the DCEU’s The Flash made his first appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. Since then, fans have waited for the speedster to get his solo movie. Thankfully, the studios listened, announcing that a new film focusing on The Flash was underway.
Ezra Miller is set to reprise his role as the Scarlet Speedster, with filming being delayed from April 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Production delays slowed the movie, and according to Radio Times, fans can now expect to see The Flash film in theaters in November 2022.
Is Grant Gustin going to appear in Ezra Miller’s movie?
Grant Gustin and Ezra Miller were cast as The Flash almost a week apart, with the latter becoming The Flash a week after the TV show debuted. Miller’s movie is set to explore the multiverse, and if the rumors are correct, Gustin’s Flash will have some involvement in the other Flash’s adventures.
Screen Rant explores the possibility of why Gustin’s Flash is the best candidate for a cameo in The Flash movie, given the character’s history with the multiverse. The film is set to introduce actors like Sasha Calle, who will play another version of Supergirl. Michael Keaton will also return to play Batman from Earth-89.
This means that a Grant Gustin cameo in The Flash movie will allow writers to explore the possibility of connecting the two universes as fans have always hoped. Given that we will see an alternative Batman returning after three decades and another Supergirl, it only makes sense to have another Barry Allen from another universe making a cameo in a Barry Allen-centered movie.
The two Flashes have appeared together before
When the DCEU was still in its infancy, many people wondered whether Warner Bros would reconsider connecting it with the CW’s Arrowverse. It was a bit of a shock when they announced that they had no intentions to do, claiming that the DCEU and the Arrowverse were two different franchises and had no connection to one another.
However, in a last-minute decision, the studios asked if Miller’s Flash could make a cameo in the wildly popular crossovers that happen in the CW shows annually. The best thing about the surprise cameo is that only a handful of people knew about the crossover, thus making the moment shared between Gustin and Miller that much more shocking for viewers everywhere.
Miller’s appearance on “Crisis on Infinite Earths” was a short scene involving the two Flashes awing at each other’s suits and capabilities, but it was enough to get everyone talking. The cameo marked the end of a longtime feud between the Arrowverse and the DCEU and made multiverse crossovers possible for future episodes and shows.
