‘The Flash’: Will the Season 6 Finale Leave Team Flash With Unfinished Business?
The Flash Season 6 finale is just around the corner, and the audience can only hope that Team Flash will arrive at some resolutions. There’s still plenty to ponder going into the season-ender, and Twitter fans have provided some insightful questions and predictions about how The Flash Season 6 finale will play out.
[Spoiler alert: This article contains details about The Flash Season 6]
‘The Flash’ Season 6 finale will end on a cliffhanger
The Flash star Grant Gustin and showrunner, Eric Wallace, have separately confirmed that season 6 will end on a cliffhanger. In an interview with TV Line, Gustin said this:
There was going to be a big Thawne cliffhanger at the end of what this season would have been, but that’s not going to be the cliffhanger we get. [Episode] 619, “Success Is Assured,” is going to end up being our finale, so we’re going to have a different cliffhanger than originally planned. But the cliffhanger at the end of [episode] 619 does serve as a pretty good finale.

Wallace also opened up about the ending. He told CBR, “It ends with our heroes at their lowest point, but realizing there’s a little light at the end of the tunnel. There will be a little cliffhanger.”
Twitter fans have theories about ‘The Flash’ finale
The Flash fans have been speculating about how the season will end, which questions will be answered, and what baggage Team Flash will carry into season 7.
One in-the-know viewer pointed to Wallace’s interview with CBR and laid the cards on the table, tweeting this: “Apparently episode 19 of The Flash Season 6 (the new season finale) will have ‘one of the biggest battles ever filmed in the six-season history of The Flash.’ This gets me very excited…and curious as to who or what it may involve!”
Many fans have taken to Twitter with predictions of who might pop up in the final fight, like this fan who tweeted a wish list of heroes and villains:
“Godspeed, Bloodwork, Thawne, and Zoom VS Barry, Wally, Accelerated Man, Jay Garrick (new and improved), Jesse Quick, and Ginger Wally West. Now that’s a fight we need to see happen.”
Aside from the concluding battle, some theories leave the action on the back burner and revolve around the interpersonal relationships, conflicts, challenges, and other interconnected storylines that need to be resolved.
One fan wrote, “This may not be ideal for everyone, and I get that, but if we don’t get Iris getting out of the Mirrorverse in the season finale, the cliffhanger I’d love to see is Barry going in the mirror after her!”
Fans are bummed about the shortened season
Knowing that the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some viewers are wondering what loose ends will be left hanging until The Flash Season 7.
“I’m still upset this f***ing pandemic shortened this season of The Flash. There’s been hardly any build-up toward the villain despite being what, eight to nine episodes in? Mirror Master, sure, but Eobard [Thawne]’s only been teased with nothing since. Ditto for Bloodwork,” wrote one follower.
Although some fans are raw about the shortened season, others are optimistic about where the story may go. The promo for the finale has helped boost morale in the fan base. About the promo, one fan tweeted, “Yeah, I think that’s giving a clearer picture of the ‘great battle.’ I’m excited.”
