Donald Trump is now the President of the United States. But let’s not forget where Trump came from: Most of us became familiar with his face during his run on the reality show, The Apprentice, in which he cruelly nixes hopeful contestants with the now-famous phrase “You’re fired!”

On top of this reality show, Trump also used to make cameos, usually playing himself, in many other films and series during the 80s and 90s. Who could forget his appearance on Home Alone 2? Trump also appeared on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and his backstage behavior was reportedly nothing to rave about.

What is ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ about?

Beloved 90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air tells a story all about how a Philadelphia teen gets sent to live with his rich uncle in Bel-Air after getting into some trouble. The teen, Will, finds himself a bit of a misfit amongst the wealthy elite of society, but the show, when you look past the hilarious jokes and the quirky dance moves, is truly about how family is family, no matter what.

Perhaps Fresh Prince‘s most important legacy is for introducing the world to megastar Will Smith, who plays the Philadelphia teen (also named Will Smith) on the show. Smith has climbed his way up to surpass the A-list since then and is one of the most successful actors in Hollywood today.

Smith is so legendary, and so outspoken about his views, that it’s hard to imagine him ever sharing a sound stage with Trump, who he doesn’t share views with, to say the least. However, a long, long time ago, Trump made an appearance on an episode of Fresh Prince, and apparently his behavior backstage didn’t impress anybody.

The Fresh Prince episode that Trump made an appearance on was called “For Sale By Owner” and aired in 1994. He plays himself in the episode and is interested in purchasing the Banks’ large Bel-Air mansion.

Will’s uptight cousin Carlton, being Carlton, is so excited about meeting Trump that he faints. Remember, at this point in history, Trump was merely a rich businessman, and probably someone like Carlton’s idol.

Carlton’s sister, Ashley, however, is furious with Trump because she doesn’t want her father to sell their childhood home. She tells him to his face that he’s ruining her life to which he responds: “Everybody’s always blaming me for everything.” A foreshadowing, perhaps, of how he feels as president? We’ll leave it up to you to decide.

Trump did just fine on-screen as far as celebrity cameos go, but apparently his behavior behind-the-scenes was a whole other story. Crew members were allegedly furious with Trump after he threw a big tantrum after becoming annoyed about something.

One crew member reported seeing Trump getting angry and throwing his script into the air instead of handing them over to his ex-wife, sending the papers flying everywhere. “It was such a really rude thing, the way he did it. So terrible. So disrespectful… He just wasn’t pleasant,” the anonymous crew member once stated.

Who picked the papers back up? We’re going to take a guess and say that Trump didn’t pick them up himself.

On top of this, the producer of Fresh Prince, Gary Miller, remembers being called to Trump’s dressing room to listen to our current president complain about how he didn’t think his lines were funny enough. At the time, Miller told him: “With all due respect, I would never think of giving you any advice about real estate because I don’t know about real estate. But I do know comedy – and trust me, you’ll get a laugh.”
