“I knew I wanted to be with Isabel the first time we spoke,” says Andrews. “Freshman year biology class. And I have not wavered in that resolve in the 27 years since. There was a feeling I had in the pit of my stomach. Every time I was around her, I felt excited. It’s a cliché, but my heart sped up every time I saw her. Still does.”

Harper credits the success of The Good Doctor to good writing and compelling storylines. During his interview with the BUILD series, Harper says the show is good because of the writing team. He sang the praises of creator David Shore, who also created the television series House.
Harper says another reason The Good Doctor resonates with viewers is because the series focuses on meaningful topics. Fans are so moved by the episodes they sometimes contact him and share how they have been personally affected by the show. “Everything starts with the writing,” says Harper. “[The show] is grounded in something that’s bigger than the actual story.”
