A hugely talented celebrity actress who has conquered stage and screen, Christine Baranski is truly a Renaissance woman.

She has appeared in everything from musicals like Mamma Mia! to Broadway productions such as The Real Thing. One of Baranski’s most popular performances was on the hit television series The Good Wife.

Christine Baranski was born in Buffalo, New York, in 1952. Raised by a working-class family, Baranski was drawn to acting very young and following her graduation from Villa Maria Academy, she began studying at New York City’s Juilliard School.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974, Baranski got to work furthering her career. Beginning in the 1980s, she landed a series of popular roles in Broadway productions, appearing in stage shows like The Real Thing, The House of Blue Leaves, Rumors, and Nick & Nora

In 2002, Baranski appeared as Mrs. Lovett in the acclaimed musical Sweeney Todd. For her work in the show, Baranski won the coveted 2003 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical.

Around this time, Baranski started working more in television and film, although she had previously made appearances in movies like The Birdcage, opposite Robin Williams. Everything that she did seemed to be a success, but when she was cast in the TV series The Good Wife in 2009, Baranski’s television career catapulted to the next level.

Although Christine Baranski’s role on The Good Wife was a supporting one, she quickly proved that she was capable of stealing every scene that she appeared in. Baranski’s character was so popular, in fact, that once The Good Wife went off the air in 2016, she reprised her role as Diane Lockhart in a spinoff series, titled The Good Fight.

These days, Christine Baranski continues to thrive as an actress. In addition to her work on television in The Good Fight, Baranski is hard at work on several other projects, including an upcoming holiday film opposite Dolly Parton, per Playbill.

Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square is set to drop on Netflix in late November, just in time for the holiday season. Baranski is reportedly portraying a vindictive town owner named Regina Fuller in the show, which is bound to serve up loads of festive cheer and good times. 

Additionally, Baranski will be in a soon-to-be-released historical series, titled The Gilded Age. Even at the age of sixty-eight, Baranski is showing no signs of slowing down, and if anything, has hit a career stride that is proving to be more lucrative than anything in her impressive history thus far.
