Season 5 of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ is ‘halfway through’ filming
While promoting her new series Shining Girls, Moss has been appearing on multiple talk shows. Even though Moss is focused on Shining Girls, she has used the interviews to give away details about season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale.
On The Drew Barrymore Show, Moss was asked about spoilers for The Handmaid’s Tale, as Drew Barrymore is a big fan of the show.
“It’s going really well, we’re halfway through,” Moss said. “I will say that it’s a very big season. We’ve been on location a lot. We’ve been in studio very little, which for us means that it’s very big. And we’re just constantly on the road, a lot of locations.”
Elisabeth Moss shared what to expect from June in the new season of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’
Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale ended with June killing Commander Fred Waterford (Joseph Fiennes), leaving her future up in the air.
While Moss could not confirm specifics about June’s storyline in the show’s fifth season, she did tell Barrymore that “June’s journey is big.”
“June’s journey is big, the other characters’ journeys are very big,” Moss said on The Drew Barrymore Show.
She continued, “And June’s dealing with, ‘What does freedom actually mean?’ And can she really be free? And ‘What does that mean?’ And ‘Where do I place my anger?'”
June and Serena Joy will face off in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’
During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Moss was asked about what fans should expect from the fifth season of The Handmaid’s Tale.
“The thing about killing Fred is it’s just one man,” Moss said on the show. “And that’s not necessarily going to take care of the whole problem.”
Since the first season, one of the main antagonists that June deals with is Serena Joy Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski). Because June killed Serena’s husband at the end of season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale, one might expect Serena to be a problem for June going forward.
On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Moss confirmed that Serena and June will once again be at odds when The Handmaid’s Tale returns.
Cohen guessed, “I think killing Fred is going to somehow activate Serena Joy in dangerous ways.”
“Oh, you wouldn’t believe it,” Moss said, “Yeah, it’s not good. Not good. She’s not happy.”
The first four seasons of The Handmaid’s Tale are available to stream on Hulu.
