Just in time for the holidays, The Incredible Dr. Pol is gifting its fans with its annual “12 Days of Pol” marathon.

Featuring practically wall-to-wall airing of the last 19 seasons of the reality show centered on veterinarian Dr. Jan Pol and the goings-on at his Michigan clinic, it’s what many Pol fans consider the most wonderful time of the year.

‘The Incredible Dr. Pol’ began on Nat Geo Wild 10 years ago

Launching on the cable channel in 2011, The Incredible Dr. Pol began as a seed in the mind of Dr. Jan Pol’s son, Charles, who’s now the show’s executive producer. Charles had been working with Nickelodeon to develop a reality show. Told to find a show subject with a big personality, he eventually thought of his father and the back-breaking work he did with his easy smile.

“At the time, I was working in Los Angeles at Nickelodeon and trying to sell ideas for reality shows,” he told Nat Geo Wild in 2014. “My first idea was turned down, and I was advised to find an idea with a ‘larger than life character.’ I immediately thought of my dad. I pitched the project to a production company, we filmed a sample episode, and my idea became reality.”

’12 Days of Pol’ will lead viewers right up to the show’s new 20th season

Charles announced this year’s “12 Days of Pol” in a Facebook Live event. As in recent years, Nat Geo Wild runs a Pol marathon for a dozen days prior to the show’s next new season. This year, it will begin on Monday, Dec. 20.

“Starting Monday, we have our ’12 Days of Pol’ on Nat Geo Wild,” he said. “We’ll be airing a bunch of old episodes starting Monday. Through Christmas, for 12 days leading up to the season premiere in January. Mark your calendars. It’s easy to remember January 1st when you guys get sick of watching football all day. Just turn it over at 9:00 pm on Nat Geo Wild for the start of the new season of The Incredible Dr. Pol.”

The ‘Dr. Pol’ brand has launched another new venture

Charles also announced in his Facebook event today the beginning of another Dr. Pol project: a Facebook page called “Dr. Pol Pets” designed to help answer pet owners’ questions about their animals’ care. On this page, Dr. Pol will be making occasional appearances to answer fans’ questions exclusively about their pets. Even while speaking on Facebook, Charles was peppered with questions by fans via chat about how to treat a horse’s hoof and how to introduce a kitten to a Dalmatian pet dog.

“We’ve launched a new Facebook page,” Charles announced about ‘Dr. Pol Pets.’ “This is going to be a page for all those people who are asking questions, who want to know more about their pets and tips for their animals. It won’t just be for pets. It will be chickens and horses and goats, as well.”

Intended to help owners of indoor pets and farm animals deal with minor issues with their animals, Charles added that the Pol brand will also be presenting “new products, wellness products for your animals, information on our feed lines. It’s all going to be on ‘Dr. Pol Pets.'”
