‘The Incredible Dr. Pol’: Will Dr. Jan Pol Be Back For an 18th Season?
Nat Geo Wild’s reality show The Incredible Dr. Pol just wrapped up its 17th season in September following the busy clinic at Pol Veterinary Services.
The series is a dependable hit for the network, but Covid-19 restrictions have been looming over many television and film productions.
Here’s what’s known about whether or not fans will see Dr. Jan Pol and his staff in a new season soon.
‘The Incredible Dr. Pol’ just celebrated another year on the air
Marking its ninth year on television, The Incredible Dr. Pol follows Dr. Jan Pol and his staff in the birthing of cows, neutering of horses and bulls, and care and treatment for their clients’ beloved house pets.
Dr. Pol’s larger-than-life personality and his staff’s exceptional work keep viewers watching and coming back for more. Although he at first didn’t think doing the show was such a great idea, the Netherlands-born doctor eventually warmed up to the idea.
As he told MLive Michigan in 2017, “Being honest with people is what counts. I live by the golden rule: I treat others like I want to be treated. I refuse to do anything to an animal for the show. We talk and we have fun together. Nothing is done for the show to make it more popular, so what you see is real. That’s why the show is so popular.”
‘Recheck’ was introduced in Season 17
Most notably in the recent season of the show, the veterinarian and his son Charles began hosting a YouTube Live show called Recheck. Featuring bonus content for their fans with special guests from the reality show stopping by to chat for a longer visit, the YouTube presentation has become popular with viewers.
The extra-features web show airs after each new episode of The Incredible Dr. Pol. One of the most recent episodes included a robust game of “Farm Feud,” a play on “Family Feud” in which two families try to answer as many questions as possible correctly about farm life and animals.
Staff members Dr. Ray, Dr. Lisa, and Dr. Brenda stopped by, too, giving Dr. Pol’s fans the rare treat of getting to know these dedicated veterinarians.
Even more rare has been the sight of Dr. Pol sitting still, with Charles at his late-night-show-like desk.
The 18th season of ‘The Incredible Dr. Pol’ is on
It turns out, not even a pandemic can keep The Incredible Dr. Pol from filming. The new, 18th season premieres in the new year. We’ll have to see how the Covid-19 restrictions affect clients’ comings and goings to Dr. Pol’s clinic.
The show announced on Twitter, “Look out! An all-new season of The Incredible Dr. Pol is coming your way January 2, 2021 on @natgeowild in the U.S.”
Fans on Instagram cheered the great news. “Yay, can’t wait!,” said one fan.
Another agreed, “Yay, super excited!”
A devoted fan stated, “Just love your show! Wish you were closer and could be our vet! You are so kind!”
The new season of The Incredible Dr. Pol is something to finally look forward to after such a difficult 2020.
