Kelly Clarkson is the original American Idol winner and can do no wrong, according to many fans. The singer has become one of the greatest success stories to emerge from competition television and has released such smash songs as “Breakaway,” “Since You Been Gone,” and “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”

Clarkson is one of the few stars to have stayed relevant for over a decade in a very difficult industry. Recently Clarkson added a new achievement to her list when she debuted her very own daytime talk show.

The Kelly Clarkson Show has become a hit, and people love the warm, welcoming dynamic of the show. Still, very few television shows are perfect, and The Kelly Clarkson Show has one particular element that fans have quibbled about. 

What is ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ about?

The Kelly Clarkson Show premiered on Sept. 9th, offering fans a fun, dynamic option in the world of daytime television. Every episode opens with Kelly Clarkson singing and interacting with her audience, showing her fans that she has not forgotten and will never walk away from her musical roots. In the short time that the show has been on the air, it has managed to attract some seriously big celebrity guests, including Dwayne Johnson and the three original American Idol judges: Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson. 

Clarkson’s TV show has gotten great ratings over the past several weeks, with critics pointing out her engaging habit of playing games with her guests, and, of course, singing frequently throughout the show. Some publications have even dubbed her habit of starting the show with a song as “Kellyoke.” Clearly, Clarkson has a winning formula on her hands.

What do fans not like about ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’?

In spite of the immediate popularity of The Kelly Clarkson Show, there are a few elements that have slightly annoyed fans. Clarkson is well known for her bright, bubbly personality, and loves to chat with her guests. To some, Clarkson likes to talk a little bit too much and doesn’t give her guests enough time to talk.

Clarkson herself has admitted to Jimmy Fallon that talking “is her favorite pastime” and that it’s “hard for her to shut up.” There were similar complaints lodged against Clarkson as a coach on The Voice. While many viewers loved her personality, there were quite a few who requested that she “tone it down” and give other coaches and contestants a chance to talk.

A few even went so far as to call her “annoying” and stated that the tone and rapidity of her voice made it seem like she was “constantly screaming.”

Will Kelly Clarkson’s TV show last?

Even if Clarkson does tend to talk a lot, that is part of her style and one reason why most of her fans love her so much. Still, to draw in as many viewers as possible, Clarkson might have to moderate her interviewing style a bit for future episodes and give her guests slightly more opportunities to speak.

It can’t be said that Clarkson doesn’t know her own faults as a host: In that same interview with Fallon, she admitted that she has to work on listening. With the overwhelming popularity of The Kelly Clarkson Show, it doesn’t seem like she will lose many viewers due to her enthusiastic interview style.

As the months go on, and Clarkson continues to hone her craft, she will probably learn the finer points of listening more than talking. In addition, if things keep going as well as they have been, Clarkson could be looking at many more years of hosting her show.
