‘The Last Kingdom’: Could Aethelflaed Be Pregnant in Season 4? — Fans Notice a Significant Detail
In season 4 of The Last Kingdom, fans get to see a different side to Aethelflaed (Millie Brady). She’s the daughter of King Alfred (David Dawson) and she’s proving herself to be a great leader in the all-new season. Fans noticed a significant detail about her that some believe could mean that Aethelflaed is pregnant. Read on to learn what the evidence suggests.
In season 4, Aethelflaed has a new love interest
The new season begins with Aethelflaed and Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon) in some sort of a relationship. Things build up off-screen and they are in the midst of a heated love affair that no one can know about. It’s a situation that was shocking for some fans and satisfying for others.
Sadly, their love doesn’t seem to last when Uhtred is chosen as the new Lord of Mercia. He abdicates in favor of Aethelflaed and she makes a promise to “remain chaste” while she is the Lady of Mercia. This means that the love she shares with Uhtred can’t continue.
Could Aethelflaed be pregnant?
Fans noticed a very significant detail when watching season 4. Aethelflaed seems to be holding her stomach in numerous shots, prompting some fans to wonder what that could be about. Is she likely pregnant with Uhtred’s child?
“Aethelflaed appears to be placing her hands on her stomach a lot in season 4. I do not know if this is significant but thought it was interesting,” a Reddit user wrote.
Other fans noticed Aethelflaed’s attention to her stomach in numerous scenes. “Yeah I noticed it. It would be hilarious if she’s pregnant after the whole stupid chastity vow,” another Reddit user said.
Aethelflaed could have the same disease as Alfred
One fan brought up an interesting explanation that Aethelflaed could have inherited the same disease her father had that eventually killed him. The series never says exactly what Alfred has, but it has to do with his stomach. If Aethelflaed inherited the same thing, it would make sense that she would be holding her stomach.
“That or she inherited Alfred’s disease,” another user pointed out.
A fan agrees that Aethelflaed could be pregnant or inherited Alfred’s disease. “Interesting idea…I was thinking pregnant being the most obvious answer but this is a great alternative explanation, it’s just as likely to go this way,” a fan wrote.
Other fans noticed Aethelflaed and all the attention she pays to her stomach in season 4. Could she be pregnant with Uhtred’s child? “I noticed that also. I thought they were going to have her be pregnant also,” said another fan of the series.
Season 4 of The Last Kingdom never addresses what’s going on with Aethelflaed. Could she be pregnant? The answer is maybe, considering she was sleeping with Uhtred. It’s also just as likely that she is suffering from the same disease that her father had as well. Hopefully fans can get some much-needed answers if the series is renewed for a fifth season.
