‘The Last Kingdom’: Get a First Look at Aelfwynn in Season 5
The hit series The Last Kingdom will end with season 5, which is a hard situation for fans to come to terms with. However, there is still this one season to come before it’s all really over, which means more content of many fans’ favorite show.
The official social media channels have been sharing first and official looks at some of the characters ahead of the new season, and that includes the character Aelfwynn (Phia Saban). We have all the details to know.
See Aelfwynn in a first look at the character in season 5 of ‘The Last Kingdom’
On September 1, 2021, the official social media channels, including on Instagram, shared a first look at Aelfwynn in the upcoming season. Fans will recall that she is the child of Aethelflaed (Millie Brady) and is proclaimed the child of Lord Aethelred of Mercia (Toby Regbo), Aethelflaed’s husband. But Aethelflaed did have a relationship with the Viking Erik (Christian Hillborg), and it’s unclear exactly who the father is to many.
In the image shared, the name of the series is seen in the upper right corner. Aelfwynn can be seen in the middle, and she’s definitely aged, as she was a young child the last time we saw her. It’s unclear how old she is though. She wears her hair in a braid back out of her face, and she has on regal-looking garments with earrings and a necklace on. She appears to be in a building of some kind.
A quote can be seen under the image from Aelfwynn. “’I am a woman of royal blood.’ – Aelfwynn,” it reads.

Get a look at Aethelflaed in season 5 of ‘The Last Kingdom’
Fans will recall that Aelfwynn’s mother, Aethelflaed, is the daughter of King Alfred the Great (David Dawson) and Lady Aelswith (Eliza Butterworth). She becomes the ruler of Mercia as queen in season 4 in a shocking turn of events. She now rules Mercia, and the people love her.
On July 14, 2021, the official social media accounts shared a look at Aethelflaed in the new season. The name of the series is in the upper left corner. Aethelflaed can be seen in the middle of the image wearing a crown with her hair up as well. She has on a green and brown ensemble with furs as well. She also has on an earring as well. The background remains out of focus, although it appears tree branches are behind her.
At the bottom of the image is a quote by Aethelflaed. “’Dead or alive it does not matter. We cannot hand Winchester to the Danes for the life of one man.’ – Aethelflaed.”
Millie Brady is tagged in the image as well. The post is captioned: “What is a life worth? #thelastkingdom #tlk5.”
It’s always great seeing these first looks ahead of a new season. We’ll have to see what else is shared before the final season of The Last Kingdom finally premieres.
