The all-new season of The Last Kingdom can’t get here fast enough. Fans are more than ready for a new season, and now we finally have a trailer to obsess over. Read on to get a breakdown of the new content for season 4. There are spoilers ahead.
Season 4 of ‘The Last Kingdom’ will premiere this month
Fans don’t have much longer to wait for season 4. It will finally drop on Netflix on Sunday, April 26. It feels like we haven’t seen Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon) and all of our other favorite characters in a long time. Luckily, there is now a new trailer for the upcoming season to hold us all over.
There’s a new trailer for season 4
The official social media accounts for the series released the just above a minute-long trailer and it’s more than epic. It starts with a good look at Bebbanburg and Uhtred can be heard saying, “I’ve lost my home. I’ve lost my name. I’m no longer Uhtred of Bebbanburg.” Uhtred tells this to Finan (Mark Rowley), his close friend.
While Uhtred speaks, we get to see the new King Edward (Timothy Innes). We also see Lady Aelswith (Eliza Butterworth) saying, “How has it come to this?” She’s looking concerned as always.
There’s conflict to come between the Saxons and Danes
“When the kings are dead, we will sit on Alfred’s throne,” Cnut (Magnus Bruun) says to Brida (Emily Cox). Cnut can be seen fighting in battle. We also see Aethelred (Toby Regbo) and his new right-hand man, Eardwulf (Jamie Blackley). They’re on horseback and appear to be charging into battle as well, presumably on the other side.
Aethelflaed (Millie Brady) is seen in a number of shots looking concerned, just like her mother. “We banish the Danes within our lifetime,” Edward, her brother, can be heard saying. It looks like they’ll be taking on the Danes just like their father before them.
Fans also get to see Father Beocca (Ian Hart) in his priestly robes. In another shot, we see Uhtred and Finan embrace as brothers do. It looks like all our favorites will be back for season 4. There’s a number of battle scenes and armies on the move, so get ready for more fighting.
‘Why do you choose them?’
There is also a shot of Sigtrygg (Eysteinn Sigurdarson). He’s a new character that has a large scar down his face. “Why do you choose them?” he asks Uhtred. “They are my people,” Uhtred informs him.
In another scene, Aethelflaed tells Uhtred, “I know you’ll do what is right.” Next we see the two of them geared up for battle amongst their friends. It looks like they’ll be teaming up together again.
“Where does it come from? This courage?” someone can be heard saying. The last scene is Uhtred and Aethelflaed locking foreheads after a bloody fight. They appear to be victorious and closer than ever.
If this trailer is anything to go on, there’s a lot of action to come. Season 4 of The Last Kingdom is going to be amazing.
