The Lincoln Lawyer premieres Friday, May 13 on Netflix. The first season will have 10 episodes, per Deadline, which will all drop at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT.
David E. Kelley, who created shows such as The Practice and Boston Legal, is producing the show. It’s based on a series of books by Michael Connelly about a Los Angeles lawyer named Mickey Haller who runs his practice out of his Lincoln Town Car. If that premise sounds familiar, it’s because Connelly’s first book featuring the Haller character was turned into the 2011 movie The Lincoln Lawyer starring Matthew McConaughey.
The new series is based on ‘The Brass Verdict’ by Michael Connelly
The Lincoln Lawyer’s first season will be based on Connelly’s second book featuring Haller, The Brass Verdict. In the show, Haller returns to work after taking a break from practicing law. He then finds himself dragged into a mystery. (In the book, the case involves the murder of a fellow defense attorney named Vincent, who was working on a high-profile murder case.) At the same time, Haller, who has two ex-wives and a daughter, is dealing with some issues in his personal life as he works to rebuild old relationships.
The May 2022 premiere date for The Lincoln Lawyer means it will be a busy month for Connelly’s fans. The series premiere of Bosch: Legacy, a spinoff of Prime Video’s Bosch, is set for May 6. Both Bosch and Bosch: Legacy are based on a series of novels by Connelly featuring detective Harry Bosch. In the books, Bosch and Haller are half-brothers whose paths occasionally cross as they work their different cases. As of now, there’s no indication that there will be any crossover between The Lincoln Lawyer and Bosch: Legacy.
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo will play Mickey Haller
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo will play Mickey Haller in The Lincoln Lawyer. He previously appeared in Murder on the Orient Express and played Gabriel Ortega in Goliath Season 2.
Neve Campbell plays Maggie, Haller’s first wife, and Krista Warner is their daughter Hayley. Becki Newton plays his other ex-wife Lorna.
Jazz Raycole plays a character named Izzy and Christopher Gorham plays Trevor Elliot. Angus Sampson, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Michael Graziadei, and Jamie McShane also star in The Lincoln Lawyer.
