Buckle up because The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 is almost here. The legal drama returns to Netflix just weeks away in October 2024. After that big ending last season, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s Mickey Haller is searching for answers. Ahead, find out when the new season of The Lincoln Lawyer premieres. Plus, why the premiere episode deviates slightly from Michael Connelly’s book series of the same name.

‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 3 premieres on Oct. 17

The third season, based on the fifth book in Connelly’s The Lincoln Lawyer series, The Gods of Guilt, begins streaming on Netflix on Oct. 17, 2024. Like previous seasons there will be twists and turns, according to star Garcia-Rulfo.

“This season is very exciting,” he told Tudum. “We see Mickey struggling with so many things at the same time—with romance, with the wives, with the cases. You never expect what’s going to happen, who’s going to be bad, and who’s going to be guilty.”

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 ended with the death of Glory Days (Fiona Rene), someone who helped Mickey with a Season 1 case. “This one is personal,” Dailyn Rodriguez, showrunner and executive producer on the series, said.

Why? “Because it’s a client that he actually really cared about and thought she had gotten out of that life and out of danger. Mickey very much is [wondering], ‘Did he have something to do with this? Could he have done more to help her?’”

Mickey is ‘a man on a mission’ more than ever in ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 3

Think Mickey wanted to get justice for his clients and win cases in previous seasons? According to Rodriguez, the lawyer’s taking it up a notch this time around, becoming a “man on fire.”

“We’re past the broken Mickey from Season 1 that has to get his sea legs again,” Rodriguez said. “In Season 2 —we liked to call that the Icarus season—he got all the fame and fortune, [he] really flew a little high to the sun and got burned a little bit. [Now he’s] a man on a mission, much more than the other two seasons.”

So, get ready to see him laser-focused on learning the truth behind Glory’s death with, of course, some sharp rides along the way.

Flashbacks ‘bookend’ the season premiere

Expect to see flashbacks of Mickey as The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 gets underway. Rodriguez, along with fellow showrunner and executive producer Ted Humphrey, previously revealed to Deadline they’re moving away from Connelly’s novel in that regard to give viewers a glimpse at “how Mickey Haller became Mickey Haller.”

“Not just the brilliant criminal defense lawyer but the husband, the father, and the man that he would come to be,” they said in a statement. “There is no comparable flashback in the book, so we devised something that would also serve as a fitting introduction to the story of the season, both on a plot level but also emotionally.”

These images, of a young Mickey finishing up surfing before a life-changing day at work, as well as cuddling on the couch with his wife Maggie (Neve Campbell) after putting their young daughter Hayley to bed, are from a pair of these flashback scenes that bookend the first episode and propel us into the rest of Season 3,” they added.

Seasons 1 and 2 of The Lincoln Lawyer are currently available to stream on Netflix.
