‘The Little Mermaid’: Harry Styles and Halle Bailey “Instantly Clicked” During Recent Screen-Test
It seems as though Harry Styles‘ chances of being Prince Eric in the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid are even greater.
The singer has been in negotiations with Disney’s production company for a while now and continues to leave quite the impression on producers.
It has also been revealed that Styles has already connected with the film’s future princess, Halle Bailey, so there is now is a great possibility Disney has officially found its Prince Eric.
Harry Styles has already gotten along with the entire team
For the past few weeks, a lot of talk has been surrounding Harry Styles playing Prince Eric in the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.
While he has been up against a few contenders, it has been reported that producers really want the former One Direction singer to take on the lead male role in the film, and Styles is definitely up for that.
According to Hollywood Life, Styles is “very interested (in playing Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid)” and has a promising chance of being picked for the role.
“Harry hasn’t signed anything yet, but he’s been told they really want him and he wants to do it.” the source shared.
Along with producers loving Harry Styles’ audition, the singer has already gotten close with the rest of the team and has even developed a connection with Halle Bailey, who will be playing Ariel in the film.
“Harry loves the whole team that’s being assembled. He thinks Halle’s incredibly talented and thinks she’s a brilliant choice for Ariel. He screen-tested with her and they clicked, he wouldn’t have got this far if they hadn’t,” the insider revealed.
In addition to the list of people Harry Styles has already gotten along with, it has been reported that the singer wants the role even more because of the mastermind behind the film’s soundtrack.
“Harry’s also a fan of Lin Manuel Miranda, he’s written new songs for the movie, so that’s another exciting element for Harry,” the source added.
With all of these great people already signed on to be part of this upcoming film, Harry Styles is heavily considering taking on this role.
Styles is more prepared than ever to play Prince Eric
While there is a ton of pressure on the actors to live up to the original The Little Mermaid, Harry Styles isn’t afraid of the challenge.
If he does end up being offered the role, the singer will be ready to show the world what he can bring to the table.
“[Styles] can sing, he can act and he’s a heartthrob so he’s a natural for the romantic lead, he’s really a perfect fit for this part,” the source shared. “It’s a musical so it’s a great chance for him to showcase all of his talent.”
According to Hollywood Life, if all of the negotiations work out and everyone is on the same page, Harry Styles will soon transform into a real-life prince.
“So as long as they can work out all the details, it’s a go.” the source revealed.
