‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Fans Are Begging for Benjamin’s Return in Season 4; ‘He’s Perfect!’
Though season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has been confirmed, fans are going to have to wait a while before Midge is doing standup on their screens again. Thanks to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, production for the Emmy Award-winning comedy has been put on hold indefinitely. But, just because the show is on hiatus for a while, doesn’t mean that fans’ enthusiasm is waning.
Because so many people are stuck in their homes, lots of fans are taking the time to rewatch the first three seasons of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Rewatching gives viewers the opportunity to see things in a new light and notice things like foreshadowing and character development earlier on. One thing fans really seem to have taken note of is how much Midge has grown since the first season. She’s grown more independent and assertive, and is able to take more accountability for her actions.
‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ has plenty of romance
Of course, analyzing Midge often leads to analyzing the people in her life. One topic constantly under a topic of discussion is Midge’s romantic life. While fans of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (who aren’t content with Midge being single) are split on whether they are in camp Joel, camp Benjamin, or camp Lenny, one thing they seem to agree on is that Benjamin was a great choice for Midge.
Benjamin, of course, is the handsome doctor with a taste for “weird.” He and Midge met in the Catskills and while they didn’t initially hit it off, they did strike up a romance in season 2. Benjamin, unlike Joel, seemed to have no issues with Midge’s dreams to be a comic and was all set to marry her. Of course, we don’t find out until the end of season 3 exactly how things ended between them. But after a confrontation, it was revealed that Midge’s own assumptions were what caused the relationship to end. Now, fans are begging she come to her senses.
Fans want to see more of Benjamin in season 4
Though we may have seen the last of Benjamin on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, many fans are hoping that’s not the case. They believe that he is the perfect, supportive, partner for her, but she just hasn’t realized it yet. Now, fans on Instagram are begging the writers to bring him back for season 4 and beyond.
“At least have him be Midge’s endgame for the show,” one fan wrote on the official Instagram page for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. “She’s learning her independence and what kind of person she wants to be and to find someone who respects that and lets her do it is a great example of a healthy relationship and equality that is not representative in shows,” the fan declared. “Please let them be happy together!!! He’s perfect for her!!! #teambenjamin,” another fan exclaimed.
Will ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ writers bring back Midge’s old flame for season 4?
Other fans are hoping that Midge and Benjamin only split up to finally give Midge the opportunity to have a flirty moment with Lenny Bruce. Now that Midge might be back in New York for good in season 4, there’s a possibility that she and Benjamin can rekindle their romance. Only time will tell what decisions the writers of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will make for Midge. But, we can’t wait to see how things play out for her, with or without Benjamin.
