‘The Masked Singer’: Who Is The Cupcake? We Think It’s Kim Kardashian-West
The Masked Singer is one of the most popular competition shows on the Fox Network. Every week, fans tune in to take guesses on the identity of the singing and costumed celebrity onstage. While this season of the show has already “unmasked” a few celebrities, there are a few others whose identities haven’t been revealed. One of the most popular characters in this season of The Masked Singer is the Cupcake. Let’s take a look at the possible identity of this popular character.
‘The Masked Singer’ fans think The Cupcake might be Leslie Jones
Many fans of The Masked Singer believe The Cupcake is really SNL comedian (and Supermarket Sweep host) Leslie Jones. This falls in line with what judge Nicole Scherzinger believed, as well. (Scherzinger also believed that legendary songstress Robert Flack might be the mystery celebrity behind the mask.)
Then again, fellow host, Ken Jeong believed that the true identity of the character was the legendary Tina Turner! That might be a stretch, but it would certainly be a fun possibility to consider.
But there are other possibilities, as well.
Another show critic thinks it may be a legendary R&B singer
Our colleagues over at Gold Derby believe The Cupcake on The Masked Singer is someone who is an R&B legend, but not someone who is necessarily known in the mainstream world.
“We think that the Cupcake is Ruth Pointer,” they said. “This 75-years-young singer enjoyed great success with her siblings as The Pointer Sisters. Remember, the first clue was of a compass “pointing” north.”
The outlet also believes that there are other signs that “point” to this Pointer Sister. For example, the Cupcake said it’s been “years” since she performed solo. But that could also refer to someone who is part of a different type of pop culture collective. So here’s who we think might be behind the mask!
Could The Cupcake be Kim Kardashian West?
Unlike some fans and critics of The Masked Singer, we believe that “The Cupcake” is really Kim Kardashian West. Here are some of the clues that suggest it may be the infamous Keeping Up with the Kardashians star.
First, when The Cupcake appears on stage, a security guard enters the numbers “1” and “9” in a keypad. This could stand for the “19” seasons that KUWTK was on the air for at the time the show was filmed. (Ultimately, the show ran for 20 seasons.) Second, The Cupcake is dressed in typical “Kardashian”-style wear: big lips, go-go boots, and tight clothes. Finally — and perhaps most importantly — in the character’s first preview, the clue is a compass pointing “north.” That’s the name of Kardashian’s first child with rapper and producer Kanye West.
It’s also worth noting that Tyga — who used to date Kardashian’s younger sister, Kylie Jenner — was also just revealed as The Dalmatian on the show. That’s another “tie” to the Kardashian clan.
Now, this is all just speculation. We’re still not quite sure who The Cupcake is! We’ll just have to tune in to upcoming episodes of The Masked Singer to find out for sure.
