Get ready for a very despicable holiday. The Minions are set to bring some chaos to Christmas when the first-ever holiday special starring the lovable yellow troublemakers airs on NBC the day after Thanksgiving.

The Minions holiday special airs Friday, Nov. 27

Minions fans had to deal with some disappointment this year after the Minions sequel Minions: The Rise of Gru had to be delayed because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The movie, which was originally scheduled for release on July 3, 2020, will now be in theaters on July 2, 2021. But there will still be some new Minions content this year, thanks to a 30-minute special featuring four mini-movie escapades starring Bob, Kevin, and Stuart.

Illumination Presents Minions Holiday Special airs Friday, Nov. 27 at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Characters from The Secret Life of Pets and Sing will also make guest appearances.

‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ airs the same day

The Minions holiday special is not the only Christmas-y programming airing that night on NBC. The animated classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas will air at 8 p.m. ET. The 1966 cartoon features the voice of Boris Karloff as the Grinch.

Getting Karloff to voice Dr. Seuss’s title character was critical to the success of the special, director Chuck Jones said in an interview with the Television Academy.

“One of the most important things was my getting Boris Karloff,” Jones said. “A lot of people didn’t know how wonderful a narrator he is.”
