‘The Morning Show’ episode recap: No one knows where Alex is
The Oct. 22 episode of The Morning Show has no trace of Alex. As far as anyone at the network is concerned she’s out because of a back injury that began in the Oct. 15 episode.
But Chip Black (Mark Duplass) knows the reason could be something else entirely. When he and Alex were in Las Vegas for the debate he revealed he’d spoken to Maggie Brenner (Marcia Gay Harden) for her forthcoming tell-all. That led to Alex tracking down the author and asking about the contents of the book.
Now in “A Private Person,” which began streaming on Oct. 22 according to AppleTV+, Alex freezes Chip out. She’s not taking his calls or responding to his texts. Frantic to see her Chip makes a surprise visit to her apartment. But the only person he finds there is Alex’s assistant who hasn’t seen her in days.
A tabloid says Bradley and Laura are dating
Remember when Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup) asked for Bradley’s advice about the false story about Hannah Shoenfeld (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) being published? He asked if she thought he should do whatever it takes to make it go away. Bradley said yes and that’s exactly what Cory does in the Oct. 22 episode.
To make the story disappear he gives the tabloid an even more salacious story. He tells them Laura and Bradley are dating and even supplies photos. The story breaks just as they’re filming an episode of the show.
Laura has flashbacks to what happened to her all those years ago. Meanwhile, Bradley is crushed over being outed. She hides in her dressing room before facing her brother, Hal Jackson (Joe Tippett), who made a surprise visit. Later Cory comes to check on Bradley and assures her the network is behind her. But unbeknownst to Witherspoon’s character Cory was the one who leaked the story.
Stella suspends Yanko Flores after punching a man on the street
Things aren’t looking good for Yanko Flores (Nestor Carbonell). After receiving backlash for using the term “spirit animal” there’s another incident involving the show’s resident meteorologist.
After punching a man who hurled racist insults at Stella Bak (Greta Lee) in the Oct. 15 episode, Yanko faces the consequences. Stella thanks Yanko and, not a moment later, suspends him. Of course, Yanko is upset at the latest turn of events. He tells Stella he’s not sorry about any of it before storming out of her office.
