The No. 1 Most Iconic Photo of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have become one of the most photographed couples in the world. It’s impossible to guess just how many photos have been taken of the royal pair before and after their wedding. From professional shots to candid moments one photo in particular though stands out among the others.
Here are some memorable shots of the two at different stages in their relationship as well as what is considered the No. 1 most iconic picture of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
5. At the Invictus Games
The 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto served as a way for the couple to confirm that their relationship was serious.
At that time, we knew that they were seeing each other for a while but we rarely saw them together. That all changed on Sept. 25, 2017, when they appeared together at the event. They showed lots of PDA too by walking hand-in-hand and even sharing a kiss in the prince’s VIP box during the closing ceremonies.
4. In the Sunken Garden
After the couple announced their engagement on Nov. 27, 2017, they met with the media and were photographed standing in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace. It was the first time the world got to see Markle’s ring and hear from the couple following the happy news.
Several of the pictures taken that day became some of the most popular images of the pair.
3. As husband and wife
For the millions around the world who watched the royal wedding live on May 19, 2018, the photo of them exiting St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle as husband and wife is a familiar one.
The beautiful shot seems like it really captured how excited the two were at that very moment.
2. The kiss
Of course, we couldn’t leave out the other most-talked-about photo from their wedding day which was when they kissed outside the chapel.
After they locked lips, the crowd gathered out front to see them cheered loudly as the newlyweds boarded a carriage for a ride around Windsor.
1. Engagement photos
The photos that are even more iconic than their amazing wedding pictures are their official engagement portraits. They’re also the most controversial photos of the pair.
The portraits were taken by fashion photographer Alexi Lubomirski and were released less than a month after their engagement was announced. While most agreed that the Ralph and Russo gown Markle wore was stunning, some thought the fact that it had a partially sheer bodice was a little much for a soon-to-be-royal and not everyone was pleased with its price tag. The couture dress cost $75,000.
Markle was a little more casual in another engagement photo with the prince, in which she wore a $920 white cashmere sweater from Victoria Beckham’s line. And that, like most pieces Markle wears, quickly sold out on Nordstrom’s website.
