‘The Office’ cast star in ‘The Accountants’ spinoff webisodes

After The Office became a success, showrunners wanted to give their loyal fans something more. The Office: The Accountants was their answer.

The Office spinoff series stars Dunder Mifflin’s beloved accountants: Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner), Angela Martin (Angela Kinsey), and Oscar Martinez (Oscar Nuñez). Michael Scott (Steve Carell), Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), and Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer) are missing from the webisodes, but most fans didn’t seem to mind.

According to Baumgartner, playing alongside Kinsey and Nuñez was one of his favorite aspects of working on The Office. “My favorite part of our characters was the triangle,” Baumgartner shared on Reddit.

“Oscar and Kevin [versus] Angela. Angela and Oscar [versus] Kevin. The constantly shifting dynamic depending on whether it was work or funtime.” He got to experience even more of that camaraderie filming The Accountants webisodes.

What is ‘The Accountants’ about?

In the first episode of The Accountants, fans learn there’s $3,000 missing from the annual budget. Naturally, everyone becomes a suspect as Angela, Oscar, and Kevin open an investigation.

The missing money has the accountants interrogating their co-workers, every one of which is guilty until proven innocent. Egos clash and accusations arise in this atypical whodunit.

New webisodes were added to NBC’s website for fans whenever a new episode of The Office aired. At the time they were released, the episodes were only ever available online. But now, Office fans can access these episodes through streaming.

How to watch ‘The Accountants’ from ‘The Office’

Some of the webisodes are still available on YouTube. But since every episode of The Office has moved to NBC’s streaming platform Peacock, so have these secret episodes. The Office fans can find webisodes of The Accountants on Peacock or stream them through the app.

Praise for ‘The Accountants’

The Accountants only ran from July to September 2006. Regardless of how short-lived the spinoff series was, The Accountants won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Broadband Program in 2007.

‘The Office’ characters can also be found in exclusive bonus content on Peacock

Peacock isn’t just offering subscribers episodes of The Office. They’re also bringing fans exclusive bonus content. From behind-the-scenes footage to curated theme episode collections (think Dunder Mifflin holiday episodes), fans can find episodes of The Accountants and then some on the streaming platform.

Additionally, Peacock gives subscribers access to “The Office Zen,” a playlist of ambient music for a productive workday.

Will ‘The Accountants’ ever make a return?

During an AMA on Reddit, Baumgartner answered fan questions. When someone asked about an Office spinoff involving Leslie David Baker (Stanley Hudson), all Baumgartner would say was: ” I don’t know what is going on with Leslie’s project right now, but The Accountants has always seemed interesting to us. The Accountants.”

Could this mean Baumgartner, Kinsey, and Nuñez are in talks to reunite for more of The Accountants? Only time will tell!

Baumgartner has also teased the idea of an Office cast reunion on his podcast, The Office Deep Dive. Stay tuned to Showbiz Cheat Sheet to find out if that every comes to fruition.
