‘The Office’: Did You Miss Pam’s Small Wardrobe Change After Her Breakup With Roy?
There were some major changes after Pam (Jenna Fischer) and Roy (David Denman) break up. But there are small details on The Office that changed too. Did you miss Pam’s small wardrobe change once she became single?
Jenna Fischer ran into a wardrobe problem during ‘The Office’
Pam usually wore a shirt, skirt, and pantyhose to work. But this outfit surprisingly isn’t easy to wear as an actor.
Fischer explained on Office Ladies that her microphone pack would be wrapped around her leg. But this would ruin her outfit.
“Here’s something that would happen though,” she said. “Those leg wraps they closed via velcro. They were a velcro leg wrap and Pam wore pantyhose and I would get a run in my pantyhose and I would have to change my pantyhose four to five times a day.”
That meant she had to be provided with a lot of pantyhose. “The wardrobe people, they would put four or five packs of pantyhose in my trailer because they knew inevitably that I would get a run from this velcro, which was also itchy and uncomfortable,” Fischer said.
There were minor changes after Pam and Roy broke up
Pam and Roy are broken up at the beginning of season 3. This happened after Jim (John Krasinski) told her that he has feelings for her on “Casino Night.” He also kissed her.
The new season shows Pam trying new things after the wedding. She gets new clothes for a date that she was set up on with Kelly (Mindy Kaling) and Ryan (B.J. Novak.)
Pam waits before jumping into another relationship. “It’s not easy for her to get out of that relationship and just go to Jim,” Fischer said on An Oral History of The Office.
That’s because the character has been with Roy since high school. “In my backstory, Pam’s parents owned an appliance store in town, and Roy worked there in high school. That’s how they met,” Fischer once explained.
Pam changed necklaces after their breakup
Fans were able to spot Pam wearing a unicorn necklace in the episode of “The Convict.” Fans of Office Ladies asked about the necklace since the character didn’t wear it before.
“It is a unicorn and Pam used to wear a little heart necklace,” Fischer said. “But it was a gift from Roy and so when they broke up she took it off and with the wardrobe department we picked a new necklace for Pam and this is what we picked.”
There isn’t a deeper meaning behind the unicorn. “We just like how it looked,” Fischer said. The detail might be small but it’s another way it helped form Pam’s story.
