‘The Office’ Cast Reunion Kind of Happened
The Office left television in 2013. Filming The Office was a joy for much of the cast and crew, which leaves many fans wondering if and when there will be an Office cast reunion. As it turns out, some of The Office cast already had one.
Some of ‘The Office’ actors reunite on Brian Baumgartner’s podcasts
The cast of The Office was a tight-knit bunch, especially while filming the show. Since the series wrapped, many of the stars have gone on to do other TV series and movies. Office actor Brian Baumgartner has started two podcasts about the show.
During the summer of 2020, Baumgartner released An Oral History of The Office. The podcast details the story of The Office with behind-the-scenes tales from the cast, writers, directors, and crew. Fans loved the episodes so much, Baumgartner returned with another podcast in 2021.
Baumgartner is releasing his full-length interviews with The Office cast in each episode of The Office Deep Dive. The episodes featuring Greg Daniels, Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Ed Helms, co-creators Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais, producer Ben Silverman, NBC executive Kevin Reilly, director Ken Kwapis, casting director Allison Jones, and Phyllis Smith have been released so far. In this way, Baumgartner has brought some of The Office cast and crew together.
‘The Office’ cast guest star on Rainn Wilson’s podcast
Wilson recently introduced a podcast of his own — Dark Air with Terry Carnation. The fictional and darkly comedic podcast explores the on and off-air life of Terry Carnation, “a late-night talk-radio show host who deals with bizarre topics, outrageous callers, and gets caught up in a mystery of his own.”
Wilson promoted the “Mule Be Sorry” episode of the podcast on his Instagram — an episode that doubles as a reunion for some of The Office cast. “AN OFFICE REUNION!?” Wilson shared on Instagram. “NEW EPISODE OF “DARK AIR with @TerryCarnation” OUT TODAY @CreedBratton, @therealkateflannery and @AngelaKinsey all appear!!”
“Angela Martin might approve. Might,” Kinsey commented. “No way! I don’t remember Terry Carnation the day we took this photo,” wrote former Dancing With the Stars competitor Kate Flannery. “Oh well. I must have been drunk.”
Will the whole cast of ‘The Office’ ever reunite?
While much of the cast have reunited to participate in Baumgartner’s podcasts, the entire cast hasn’t gathered together for some time. Showrunner Daniels teased the possibility of a reunion when the comedy series first moved to NBC’s streaming platform Peacock.
“I think it’s probably more likely now that the show is on Peacock,” Daniels told E! News. “But no plans right now.” More recently, Baumgartner answered a fan-submitted question regarding the possibility of an Office cast reunion.
“We have discussed it quite a lot,” Baumgartner admitted. “I believe it is certainly possible. There are some ideas that have been circulated among email and text chains. But I am not at liberty to discuss that.”
Again, nothing is confirmed at this time. But Baumgartner admits to hearing “rumblings” about a potential Office cast reunion. Stay tuned to Showbiz Cheat Sheet for updates.
