‘The Office’ Star Rainn Wilson Has Nods To Dwight Schrute in the Most Appropriate Room in His House
Rainn Wilson doesn’t live on Schrute Farms like Dwight Schrute. The actor, most famous for playing Schrute on The Office, lives in a Spanish-style home with views of the Pacific Ocean. It’s not a replica of Schrute Farms from The Office but there are some nods to the popular TV show.
Rainn Wilson grows vegetables like Dwight Schrute
Wilson took Architectural Digest on a tour of his home in 2020. Not exactly Schrute Farms, the actor’s home does have an extensive garden. Whether or not there are beets growing somewhere on the property’s five-and-a-half-acres of gardens remains to be seen.
It also has macadamia trees and citrus groves so the actor could establish Wilson Farms if he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his Office character.
The 54-year-old also let the publication in on how he ended up in his new home. After visiting the Southern California home three or four times, the actor and his wife, writer Holiday Reinhorn, realized this was the place for them.
They bought the property, which was built in 1974, and renovated it. Not in need of too much updating, renovations focused on the outdated kitchen and removing the two-ton bank vault door and concrete safe room located in the center of the home.
The actor has props from ‘The Office’ in his home office
Taking Architectural Digest on a tour of his office, Wilson showed off the props he has from The Office. Schrute’s nameplate is prominently displayed on his desk next to the character’s glasses. But that’s not all.
Wilson also has a Schrute bobblehead and a collection of fan art.
‘I love to collect fan art that people will hand me or send me,” he said, holding up two framed hand-drawn pictures of Schrute. “ I have a whole collection of some really cool stuff.”
Rainn Wilson has a table made by Nick Offerman
Giving a tour of his outdoor area, Wilson shared a “fun fact” about his patio table. Nick Offerman, the actor most famous for his role as Ron Swanson on Parks and Recreation, built it.
Wilson went into detail about the sturdy table, calling it, “one of my very favorite possessions I’ve ever owned.”
He explained that when he was on The Office, Offerman “was a little more unemployed.” So Wilson and his wife hired the actor to build a table for them.
It blends perfectly with the rest of Wilson’s home which he described as “global bohemian.” He went on to say that American painter Julian Schnabel’s home served as inspiration.
“I’ve been to a lot of fancy houses around the world, but Schnabel’s home is one I’ll never forget,” he said.
