The Pets of ‘Teen Mom’: The Franchise’s Stars Have Dubious Track Records with Pets
The reality TV stars that make up the cast of Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 are not without problems. Jenelle Evans and Amber Portwood have found themselves in hot water with the law. Mackenzie McKee has drawn more than a few side-eyes from the internet, and Farrah Abraham has been picked apart for everything from her job to her parenting. While all the kids involved in the Teen Mom franchise seem to be doing relatively okay, the pets of the franchise haven’t fared nearly as well. You might be shocked to find out how many pets have disappeared or died while being cared for by members of the Teen Mom cast.
Farrah Abraham’s dog died under mysterious circumstances
Farrah Abraham is currently in Dubai. No one is really sure what she is doing in the middle east, but some of the guesses are hilarious. Either way, before jetting off to the United Arab Emirates, Abraham suffered a loss when her dog, Blue, died. Abraham announced Blue’s passing in July 2018.
The five-year-old Pomeranian allegedly died from “shock” and a collapsed trachea, according to Ok! Magazine. Abraham and her 9-year-old daughter, Sophia, raised eyebrows when Sophia admitted to “tossing” the dog out onto the balcony to go to the bathroom. Moments later, the dog allegedly collapsed. Abraham insists that Sophia just didn’t know how to explain what happened, but fans have speculated that there might be more to Blue’s death than “shock.”
David Eason shot and killed a 12lb French bulldog
Jenelle Evans has had plenty of drama since early May. Her troubled husband, David Eason, shot and killed the family dog after he alleged it tried to nip at Ensley, 2. Everyone from castmates to rescue groups have weighed in on the situation. Most seem to agree that the dog, a French bulldog named Nugget, was absolutely no threat to Ensley,2.
The incident caused CPS to move in and remove the three children that were in the home at the time of the event. Evans and Eason have since regained custody of their kids, but the savage death of Nugget did cost Evans her job. Shortly after Nugget’s death, MTV parted ways with the troubled reality TV star. Eason had been fired from the reality TV show months earlier.
Jenelle Evans and the case of the missing Husky
Evans caught the ire of fans when an episode of Teen Mom 2 showed her two dogs; a Huskey named Moogan and a pit bull named Jax, locked in a cage far too small for the two dogs. The cage was also filthy. Evans was also shown screaming at the Husky in a later episode when it escaped from its enclosure and defecated in the home’s garage.
Moogan was also a point of interest when neighbors called animal control on the couple for seemingly abandoning the dog outside during a storm. Animal control left a warning for Evans and her then-boyfriend Nathan Griffith that they needed to provide the dog shelter. Moogan seemingly disappeared with no further explanation until 2016, when Griffith posted the dog for adoption, according to Starcasm.
Chelsea Houska’s dog was mauled
Chelsea Houska has grown into a responsible, reasonable, and perfectly competent mother and pet owner, but in 2013, things were a bit different. Back then, Houska was still dealing with the fallout of her troubled relationship with her eldest child’s father, and she was studying for her GED. Pressed for time, Houska allegedly let her French bulldog, Frankie wonder off.
When the dog didn’t return, Houska went looking for it and found a neighbor’s dog had attacked. The larger dog, a husky, mauled poor Frankie. Frankie died from his injuries. Houska had a meltdown, but her ever logical father helped her deal with the fallout. He did remind Houska that letting Frankie off his leash was the real cause of the tragedy, according to Barking Beast. Houska seems to have learned her lesson.
