‘The Pioneer Woman’: Inside Alex Drummond’s Dreamy European Vacation With Husband Mauricio Scott
Working for her mother seems to be going well for Alex Drummond, daughter of The Pioneer Woman‘s Ree Drummond. Alex and her husband, Mauricio Scott, recently took off for a fabulous European vacation, posting their travels on Alex’s Instagram. Here’s more about the couple’s journey through Italy and Switzerland, along with photos sure to inspire wanderlust.
Alex Drummond and her husband Mauricio Scott celebrate their 1st anniversary
After dating for several years through college, Alex Drummomd and Mauricio Scott fell even further in love during the COVID-19 pandemic when Mauricio gained bonding time with the Drummond family.
After weathering the pandemic together, Alex and Mauricio married in May 2021. Shortly after, the couple traveled to the Maldives for their honeymoon, and Alex filled her Instagram with enviable shots of her and Mauricio, sundrenched and smiling.
Now, Alex has swapped her bikini for hiking gear as the couple treks through Switzerland and Italy.
Italy was Alex and Mauricio’s 1st stop
After posting a message on Instagram asking followers to guess where she and Mauricio were off to, Alex Drummond unveiled the couple’s travel plans. Later, she revealed the trip was not only a celebration of her and Mauricio’s first year of marriage but also a gift for Mauricio’s brother’s wedding proposal:
“The main reason we traveled to Europe was to be there for Mauricio’s brother, Carlos’ proposal in Switzerland (secret’s finally out)!! … So we ended up making a trip out of it — sort of a late anniversary celebration as well! Lots of happy things!”
The pair began their travels in Milan and Lake Como, Italy. Alex posted her first set of photos on Instagram on May 29, captioning a gorgeous sunset over the famously glamourous lake.
“Hard to even fathom that a place this beautiful exists!! … Lake Como, you have our hearts (and our stomachs, still dreaming about that carbonara),” she wrote.
The photos also included several shots of the couple’s culinary explorations, with plates full of pasta, red wine, and bright cocktails. Striking a pensive pose in one picture, Mauricio sits on the edge of the water, staring out at the serene lake. For the final snap in the collection, Alex and Mauricio sit on a bench together at the lake’s edge.
Switzerland was on Alex Drummond’s bucket list
Heading north, Alex Drummond and Mauricio Scott journeyed to Switzerland. Posting from Interlaken, Alex captioned several Instagram photos of the couple hiking through the mountains.
“The Alps have always been on my bucket list, and they were pure magic. We’ll never forget you, Switzerland!!!!!” she wrote.
In one photo, Alex and Mauricio are joined by his brother and new fiancée, with everyone pointing to the bride-to-be’s new ring. In another video post (available at The Pioneer Woman), Mauricio is presumably behind the camera filming Alex as she dozes on a train ride after a hike.
The happy couple then journeyed back to Italy, taking in more sights, beginning with a night in Venice. Alex and Mauricio then made quick work of Florence, Tuscany, and Rome, posting more pictures of themselves at famous landmarks, including Rome’s Colosseum and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
As the couple’s last stop was the country’s capital, Alex posted on Instagram on June 9: “Roma was iconic!! sooooo much history and beauty (& walking 🥵)! now soaking up the final spot on our crazy adventure.”
