‘The Pioneer Woman’ Ree Drummond Best Turkey Recipes
Ree Drummond loves the holidays. One of her tastiest dishes is turkey. If you’re looking for a turkey recipe for the Thanksgiving holiday, The Pioneer Woman has plenty of meals to choose from. Here are some of Drummond’s best turkey recipes.
Ree Drummond’s turkey gravy
Turkey gravy is often served during Thanksgiving meals. Drummond has a quick and simple gravy recipe that will delight your guests this holiday. She starts by removing the roasted turkey from the oven and pouring the juices into a measuring cup. She then pours out the turkey drippings and lets the grease separate from the drippings.
Drummond’s next step is to sprinkle flour into the grease. She whisks it together to make a paste. She advises adding more flour if the paste begins to get greasy or if the grease starts to separate from the paste.
Drummond then adds low-sodium chicken broth. She prefers to use the low-sodium version so that she can add salt later if she needs to. After that, she pours in some of the turkey drippings. The Pioneer Woman explains that the drippings are all the liquid from the turkey without the fat. You can find the full ingredients list and instructions here.
Ree Drummond’s turkey cranberry panini
This recipe is perfect if you have leftover turkey and cranberry. You can make an entirely new dish out of these Thanksgiving staples. Drummond describes this sandwich as “heavenly.” Some of the ingredients you’ll need for this dish are chopped pecans, honey mustard, shredded turkey, goat cheese, and cranberries.
Drummond starts with two slices of sourdough bread. However, she says you can use whichever bread you prefer. She then puts Dijon mustard on both halves of the bread. Her next step is to add Swiss cheese. Then, she adds the turkey slices. Drummond says including turkey pieces with the skin still on adds a bit of flavor. Her next step is to spoon cranberry sauce on top.
Drummond says this sandwich combines every single component of Thanksgiving dinner. If you don’t know what to do with Thanksgiving leftovers, this is the perfect recipe. You can find the complete ingredients and instructions here.
Ree Drummond’s make-ahead turkey
Thanksgiving dinner can be stressful, so it pays to prepare your meal ahead of time. Leaving meal prep until Thanksgiving Day will leave little time for you to relax and spend quality time with your family. One of Drummond’s secrets to cooking her turkey dinner quickly is to prepare the day before Thanksgiving. She starts by having her butcher cut the turkey into pieces.
Drummond says cooking the turkey in pieces helps with getting the meal done in less time. “Cooking the turkey in pieces the day before accomplishes two things,” says Drummond on The Pioneer Woman show. “First of all, it cooks a lot faster than if you have to cook the whole turkey itself. Second, you can cook it ahead of time, carve it up, and save all that time that you don’t have to spend carving on Thanksgiving Day.”
