‘The Pioneer Woman’: Ree Drummond’s Daughter Alex Says She’s in No Rush to Have Kids
Ree Drummond’s daughter Alex is still enjoying being a newlywed and says she’s in no rush to have kids just yet. The Pioneer Woman star and her husband Ladd also aren’t pressuring their daughter to start a family just yet.

Since Alex is still newly married to husband Mauricio Scott, she often gets asked about when they will have kids. The short answer: not anytime soon.
In an interview with People, Alex shared that she and her husband aren’t in a rush when it comes to starting a family. “It’s kind of weird because I feel like I’ve gotten that question a lot and people have asked, ‘Oh, are your parents in a rush for you guys to have a baby and get grandchildren?’” she explained. “But I really have felt no pressure from my parents to rush into that.”
Their parents, she said, have encouraged them to just enjoy being a couple. “If anything, they’ve been like, ‘Take your time. Enjoy marriage. You guys are both still so young,’” she shared. “I mean, we’re both 24. I think they had me when they were 28, and so they are like, ‘You can take your time. You don’t have to rush into the whole kid thing.’”
Ree Drummond isn’t “dying to become a grandma yet,” according to her daughter Alex, so there’s no pressure. “I feel like our parents are in no rush to become grandparents, but also, I mean, I know they’d be so excited if we did, but I think we’re taking our time, not rushing into it, trying to enjoy being married for a little bit,” she explained.
Alex added, “We’re both the first of our families to get married too, and so it’s not like we have to catch up with our older siblings that have had kids already. We can set our own pace, I feel like.”
Ree isn’t in a hurry to be a grandmother
In August 2021, Ree posted a photo of herself holding a friend’s baby. The image prompted fans to wonder if she was hoping to have another child or have grandkids. She shut down the idea that she was itching to be a grandma anytime soon.
“Does it make me want to have another baby? No,” Ree wrote in the caption. “Does it make me want grandchildren? No. (Not yet anyway pls…).”

Alex and Mauricio received the often asked question during an Aug. 17, 2021 Instagram Live session when Paige and Alex answered fan questions.
When asked, “When are you having a baby,” Alex answered, “Uh, no time soon. I mean honestly, it’s God’s will, whatever he wants, but I say no time soon.”
Mauricio agreed with her and they both said, “We’re still kids.”
