‘The Pioneer Woman’ Ree Drummond Gushes About Friend Joy the Baker: ‘She’s Just a Treasure’
Ree Drummond recently spent a little bit of quality time with one of her favorite people, Joy the Baker. The two “go way back,” according to Drummond. The Pioneer Woman star has high praise for the fellow food blogger and Joy the Baker confirmed that Drummond is a wonderful host.
Ree Drummond hosted Joy the Baker at the ranch
Drummond shared Joy the Baker’s recent visit to the ranch with a series of photos on Instagram. “Joy the Baker and I go way back (in food blogging years!) and the rare times we get to see each other are always concentrated and so special to me,” Drummond shared in the caption.
She continued, “We laugh and laugh, and I don’t know… she’s just a treasure to be around and I’m so glad we met so many years ago. My sister Betsy is here now too, so she got to join in our fun… and poor Will (Joy’s man) was outnumbered and we talked his ear off. And kinda grilled him a little but that’s what friends are for! Love you Joy!!”
Joy shared her love for Drummond with a comment on the post. “Truly so much fun and so much pizza! You’ve given us such luxurious refuge after this long trip!,” she wrote. “Can’t thank you enough! And @betsylsmith is the best bonus with the best lipstick colors. [Love] you both!”
Joy the Baker shared a peek of her visit
On Joy the Baker’s Instagram, she confirmed what many would expect — Drummond is an amazing host. She posted a photo showing a huge breakfast spread and tagged The Pioneer Woman Mercantile restaurant, writing, “@thepioneerwoman hospitality is unmatched.”
Joy took fans along on her recent road trip in her Instagram stories and included some of the highlights of stopping to see Drummond. “Last night we got to hang with @pioneerwoman. We drove around the ranch and sipped wine at the lodge and she and @betsylsmith grilled Will like real sisters,” she wrote on a photo.
She also picked up some cowboy boots and attended a football game with The Pioneer Woman star.
Who is Joy the Baker and how long has she known Ree Drummond?
According to Joy the Baker’s website, she describes herself as “a self-taught baker, turned professional baker, turned food photographer, and three-time cookbook author.”
Joy and Drummond have a lot in common so it’s not surprising that they forged a friendship over their mutual interest in cooking, baking, and an affinity for blogging and food photography.
A 2020 post on The Pioneer Woman website explained the origins of their friendship. “Ree Drummond has a lot of loves (her family, her dogs, floral blouses), and Joy Wilson is definitely one of them,” the author noted.
“The two women have been friends for years, but Ree’s obsession with Joy’s one-of-a-kind style — and the comforting, creative recipes she posts online — dates back to when she first spotted Joy’s blog, Joy the Baker, about a decade ago.”
According to Ree, “There’s no one else in the world like Joy.”
