The Sweet Reason ‘The Pioneer Woman’ Ree Drummond’s Husband Loves Working on the Ranch
The Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond loves to talk about her family and what’s happening on the ranch. One family member she often mentions is her husband, Ladd Drummond, whom she refers to as Marlboro Man. Ladd and his team manage the ranch and make sure things run smoothly. Here’s what he says is the best part of working on the ranch.
What type of ranching operation does Ladd Drummond run?
In an interview with NCBA’s Cattlemen to Cattlemen, Ladd spoke about his cattle operation and how he gets his children involved:
Mostly we have a cow-calf operation. My brother and I, we run about 5,000 mama cows, but we also run about 8,000 yearlings. We have the kids help us a lot; you can see a lot of that on Ree’s show. We like to keep them busy and working, and it keeps them out of trouble. Keeps us out of trouble, too.
How big is Ladd Drummond’s ranch?
If you regularly watch The Pioneer Woman on Food Network, you’ve likely seen images of the Drummond ranch. Just how big is the property? The Drummond family ranch, located in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, is roughly 433,000 acres according to Modern Farmer. Furthermore, it is the 17th largest ranch in the United States among the country’s top landowners.
The sweet reason Ladd Drummond loves working on the ranch
The host of NCBA’s Cattlemen to Cattlemen asked Ladd how he felt about having the entire family on the ranch and being able to see his kids and work with Ree each day. Ladd responded by saying that being with family is what he enjoys most about working on the ranch:
We truly are blessed. Getting to work with the kids and having Ree around and we’re all on the ranch together. It’s truly just a blessing. That’s what really makes it the most fun about everything, is being able to work with everyone. I work with my brother, my dad. Like a lot of ranching operations, we have a lot of family involved, and that’s probably really the best part about it.
Ladd Drummond says the ranch life is for him
Although many people prefer to live a more comfortable life instead of working on a ranch, Ladd wouldn’t have it any other way. He told ABC’s Channel 8 that he is quite content with the way his life is right now. “It really just doesn’t get any better than this. When your grass is big and your country looks good, my ponds are full. That’s about as good as you want it to get.”
