Ree Drummond’s love and kisses cookies are a sweet Valentine’s Day treat
Drummond demonstrated her “super fun, over-the-top love and kisses cookies” on an episode of The Pioneer Woman. “These are little chocolate wonders. I make them all the time,” she explained.
The Food Network star melted chocolate in a bowl in the microwave, “It’s just barely warm enough to melt. I wanted to keep it from getting too hot,” Drummond explained. She let the chocolate cool for a few minutes while she got started on the cookie dough.
Drummond combined flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. In a mixer, she creamed together butter, brown sugar, and sugar, then added eggs and vanilla, and drizzled in the melted chocolate.
“Really simple cookie dough and these cookies have chocolate coming from all directions,” Drummond noted.
She stopped the mixer and scraped the mixing bowl, then added the dry ingredients while it was running on low.

Drummond used a scoop to “get even amounts of dough” and rolled each scoop into a ball. Then she dropped the cookie dough ball into red sprinkles and coated it. She baked the cookies in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for 10 minutes. After removing the cookies from the oven, she pressed a chocolate kiss into each cookie.
“My family is definitely a family of chocoholics,” she explained. “My dad is the chocoholic to end all chocoholics. He likes it really dark and rich.”
She added, “We’re a little bit more of a milk chocolate family in the Drummond house but let’s face it, we’ll take chocolate any way we can get it.”
Her cookie recipe earns rave reviews
Drummond’s love and kisses cookies are a hit with fans, judging by the reviews left on the Food Network recipe. Many compared the consistency to a brownie.
“A wonderful cookie brownie recipe. So easy, so fine, and so good,” one reviewer noted.
Another person commented, “These are very tasty cookies and an easy recipe. The cookies have almost a brownie-like texture and taste. To be honest I even like them without the kisses and sprinkles (the sprinkles just add color really).”
One fan shared, “These are AMAZING! I’ve made chocolate cookies before but, nothing that tasted like this. The cookie itself is delicious. A little crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside with the texture of a cake-ball right in the center. Then adding the kisses just makes them even more scrumptious.”
“These cookies turned out great. Very chocolatey, brownie-like texture,” another commenter wrote. “We rolled ours in heart shaped sprinkles and they look adorable — perfect for Valentine’s Day. Make these if you want to wow your guests with flavor and cuteness!”
