The Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond has just released her cookbook Super Easy. Which features “120 shortcut recipes for dinners, desserts, and more.”  In her new book — which is already an Amazon #1 bestseller — the Food Network star didn’t just share her favorite recipes. Drummond also included the nine must-have cooking staples that she can’t live without.

‘The Pioneer Woman’ came up with her cookbook idea during quarantine

Drummond found inspiration for her cookbook during the pandemic, when the country shut down and all of her children came home to their Oklahoma ranch. With her house “full of humans,” The Pioneer Woman says she had to come up with new ways to mix it up in the kitchen.

The relatable food blogger says that between her family, her cookbooks, and her TV show, she makes a lot of food. She does love to cook, but Drummond says she is always looking for ways to simplify her life in the kitchen.

“I find myself gravitating toward recipes that are delicious but don’t require a lot of prep or fuss, because they free me up to have more time (and energy) for other areas of my life. This also makes cooking less of a chore and more of a pleasure—exactly what cooking should be!” Drummond explained.

Ree Drummond wrote her cookbook to ‘save her cooking sanity’

When The Pioneer Woman announced to her 3.8 million Instagram followers that Super Easy had officially hit bookstores, she said that she had birthed her “cookbook child.” She told her fans that the book was the result of her finding ways to save her cooking sanity

“The recipes in this cookbook came to be during the days (months!) my house was full of humans,” Drummond wrote in the caption of her post. “I had to find ways to save my cooking sanity (and keep myself from losing my love for cooking, if I’m being honest). You can swipe forward to see some of my favorite dishes from the book. I hope you love this cookbook as much as I LOVED writing it! ❤️❤️❤️”

‘The Pioneer Woman’ reveals her top 9 must-have cooking staples

In addition to her dozens of recipes, Drummond also shared with fans the top nine cooking staples she always has on hand in the kitchen. The 52-year-old says, “For flavor, for convenience, and for everyday cooking, I can’t live without these everyday go-to ingredients. And you shouldn’t either.”

According to Drummond, her kitchen must-haves are: Asian-flavored sauces, fruit jams and jellies, jarred and canned peppers, boxed stocks and broths, good bread, mustards, dried pasta, hot sauces, and canned tomato products (sauce, paste, etc…).

Ree Drummond lost 50 pounds while writing her new cookbook

During a recent appearance on The View, Drummond showed off her amazing weight loss from this past year that happened while she was writing Super Easy. The Food Network star began her weight loss journey because she wanted to slim down for her daughter’s wedding — and she ended up dropping 50 pounds.

“I couldn’t lose weight for many years, and it happens—it just crept up, but my daughter got married this year, and that was a nice little motivation,” she explained. “I kinda thought maybe my dress should zip the day of the wedding.”

‘The Pioneer Woman’ still eats the food she loves

Her daughter’s wedding started her weight loss journey. As she shed the pounds, Drummond found more motivation when she started feeling better. The cookbook author says that eventually it became less about losing weight and more about sticking with what feels good.
